It's no more of a pattern than MT beating WKU in 2008.

If losing by 4 at home to FAU and losing by 10 at Troy is big gap then the Toppers are going to be just fine. Make no mistake, that is the top of the Sunbelt. MT is not there.

I don't like everything that went on coaching wise with WKU the past 2 years but I believe there have steps to correct the bigger coaching issues.

Not a pattern, but it was a sound beating at your place. If it were close and by more experienced MT team, I would say there is no evidence of WKU's position in the conference, but that wasn't the case. As far as MT not being near the top of the conference, last year was not a normal year for us. I think history has shown that we are one of the top teams overall.

Neal and Tony are the picturest "master-apprenctice" relartionship. Neal has worked under Tony for many years, TF mentoring him the whole way. Neal took what Tony taught him and modified it to fit his own style.

as for TROY players being cocky, i don't know about that. I'd say they are proud of what they have accomplished and carry a sense of pride with them. I've seen cockiness, it reared its ugly head once, at the 2008 New Orleans Bowl. we got cocky and we got beat. a mistake the players had to make for all of us, and one Larry won't allow again.

I don't think Troy was as much cocky against USM as they ran into a team that was playing much better at the end of the year than they were at the beginning. I look for some very good things from USM next year. Wouldn't suprise me to see them win CUSA. However Troy had USM on the ropes, but bad clock management hurt alot in the 4th quarter.

yeah, that clock management thing seemed to be a constant problem this past season.

getting cocky is what fau players did before the season started before playing texas and msu. (not a jab toward fau, but i specifically remember an fau player before the msu game saying something like they will hang a bunch of points on msu? not quite sure of the quote, but it was cocky as hell). i dont think fau is going to have that mindset this season tho.

GOD I hope not. 03-banghead

FAU players/fans thought that after winning the Confrence and NOBowl and having 18 starters back it would be a cake walk. Well in FBS footbal NOTHING is given you have to take and earn it all over again. Last season wast last season. The slate is clean.

FAU players learned that lesson PDQ and managed to turn around the second half.

Watch out Troy, Im hearing A LOT of the same things coming from you guys that I said last year. Dont fall into the same trap. 05-stirthepot

I'm not one! I know it's going to be tough because all the other SBC teams are going to be better except for maybe ULL. At least the players on the team don't have the same mindset as some of us Troy fans. Some videos with player interviews have been posted since the NO Bowl and many of players have said they are excited about next season and know there is a lot of potential, but they know nothing is going to come easy. The NO Bowl loss to a 6-6 USM is going to linger in their minds, because that really stung them. Even Levi Brown has said he is going to watch film of every throw he made this season and try to find his mistakes and improve his game.

I still remember seeing Levi at the Marriott in New Orleans the morning after the bowl. He looked depressed and disappointed. I felt bad for him. So I think the NO Bowl loss will help motivate this team.
