2004 BT ARCHIVES: Board of Trustees meeting tommorow in Tuscaloosa
I have no information on this, but my gut is that tommorow marks the end of UAB football. I pray I am wrong.

It's been a hell of a ride folks, but hold on to your butts!

If they axe the program, that'll be the beginning of the end of UAB's association with the UA system.

Damn.

Wait, maybe they are meeting because they are going to give us the funds to hire Spurrier.

Was this a regularly scheduled meeting or was it just called?

The BOT was called out last night on national TV. the announcers talked about how they were trying to sabotage a program within their own system. I am sure they were unhappy about that as well.

I think it started by talking about Legion field and the historic games that Bama played there. Then they mentioned that both schools were under the same board of trustees and something along the lines of "some people think that there are members of the board of trustees that wish UAB did not have a football team" The announcers denounced that type of thinking. It was all old news to us, but I imagine it didn't sound good to the BOT knowing it was going out nationally.

1. The BOT is meeting two days after probably the worst day in UAB football history
2. It's a Friday (ie-Black Friday)
3. They want to have a back-up plan in case they lose to Miss St. Throw the negativity on UAB so nobody notices what happened

How in your right mind can you forget about attendance at all the games prior to USF??

I'll say it first: If the game was played inside a DOME, we would not have this problem right now.

If anything, the BOT should be thinking that they should consider UAB's plans for upgraded athletic facilities on campus or a boost in funds to hire better coaches. We have proven that UAB is capable of being a Top 25 team with crappy facilities and draw a crowd in excess of 35k without Ruben.

Have we all forgotten?
