When he violated just about every principle upon which the republican party has historically been based, why did the republican leadership in congress go meekly along?

When the 2006 elections told anyone with a brain that the republican brand was in trouble, why did the republican leadership in congress continue to go meekly along?

When the republican presidential primaries began, and it was clear that the strongest presidential issue the democrats were going to have was going to be to link the eventual republican nominee to Bush, why did all but one of the aspirants fall all over themselves kowtowing to him?

After the conventions, when "McBush" was still the strongest issue that Obama had working for him and McCain had the perfect opportunity to break with Bush on an issue where public opinion was not on Bush's side (and Obama was aligned squarely with Bush), why did he fall in line rather than breaking ranks?

After eight years of questionable leadership, is Harriet Miers the biggest issue where republicans broke ranks? How dumb is that?

On a related topic, when people like Foley, Craig, and Stevens clearly broke ranks with acceptable behaviour, why did republicans not discipline them immediately?

The republicans clearly deserved the defeat that has been handed to them.

Its called the "11th Commandment" dating back to the Reagan Administration and its usually strictly enforced by the RNC who will "get" anyone who violates it.

"Thou shall not speak ill of another Republican in public."

Yup. They'll get back to their roots, or disappear. Some other party will take their place (it'd be nice 2 or 3 parties came in their place).

I'd like to see a 3rd party become viable enough to challenge both major parties. At present, we have to choose between bad and worse, and nobody knows which is which until it's too late...

All you have out there are the Alex Jones and the Cindy Sheehan's who are elevated in stature by such fine Americans as Rosie ODonnell and that filth.

They can do absolutley nothing where they "DO NOT BASH, ABUSE, SCREAM & HOLLER" everyone down who disagrees with them and it is EMBARRASSING to watch it happening !!!!!

Most "Moderate People" who honestly would like to be a part of finding out what happened on 911 or any other occurrence, are left totally in a red faced daze as they are bullied along in a crowd that is screaming at Extremely Powerful People and calling them "Nazi's, Fascist, Liars, and so much more at the top of their lungs" !!!!!

No one takes them seriously and the longer they are around, the crazier and meaner they get.

This is EXACTLY what you are going to get from a 'New Political Party' - - these Fringe, Abusive, Spoiled Brat Freaks - - there is not much sanity left in this world and these characters surely do not possess it.
