I’m an EMU alum, but as a kid I lived in Woodridge for several years. Hence the soft spot for NIU.

Good luck this year.

A lot to be proud of, EMU is no joke. You guys can hang. Chris Creighton has done a great job up there.

Thanks Hawaii.

Question: Is your name accurate? Did you grow up in Hawaii and attend NIU?

Yes sir. Navy parents. My dad retired at Great Lakes. Extremely different places.

Seriously.03-lmfao

I think you’ve seen both ends of the spectrum.

Grew up in a small town 15 minutes from DeKalb and have been reading about the Huskies since 1963 (Jr High). Played a sport and graduated from NIU in 1972. Season ticket holder in FB-MBB-WBB-VB. Many good memories and friends as an undergraduate. When the Huskies take the field/or court I get a special feeling when I hear the school song-it is without a doubt the best. Go Huskies!!

I played baseball and in 1972 we were conference champs and the first team in any sport at NIU to receive a NCAA D1 invite to the national tournament. We went to the mid east regional in Bowling Green Ohio. The NIU 1972 basketball team was very good also but unfortunately the NCAA tournament in those days was much smaller and they did not receive a bid but they were much deserving.

That’s awesome! Former baseballer here as well; although we (EMU) weren’t very good in the mid-90s.

We both played college ball to soon. It would have been fun to use those aluminum bats ( that are now illegal) that were used in that 2000-2012 ish timeframe. Oh well we still had our fun.
