If ECU goes to a BCS bowl and wins...
Let's say ECU goes to the Fiesta Bowl or Orange bowl this year and wins against National Power State U.
Does the BE presidents immediately extend a FB only invite? Or do you think they wait to see more.
I was and am one of the biggest proponents of doing nothing, but sitting back and waiting. Not rushing into any expansion, but seeing if one team truly separates itself and starts going to BCS bowl, ala Boise State. Then, and only then, think about adding them. Otherwise maintain status quo. If ECU pulls a Boise, are they immediately added? You probably would hear some rumblings for them to be added.

RE: If ECU goes to a BCS bowl and wins...
Prior to the BCS re-affirming the Big East's membership, a dream season from ECU might have made a difference, but now that they're locked into the BCS for the foreseeable future, what matters to the Big East is money, not on-field success. One tends to follow the other, but the Big East would be more interested in ECU's television ratings than their win-loss record.

Utah and Boise St won their BCS Bowl Games to cap off undefeated seasons...but neither were or have been since invited to any BCS Conf.

Winning games and especially a BCS game is huge for exposure...and although a conference will look at that...it will most likely look at whole long term potential and the full package. Can ECU provide that? They may. But one good season won't be the deciding overall factor...there will be many.
