Suddenly you have nationally competitive programs in Boise, BYU, and TCU and you have more middle depth with Utah, Fresno, Houston, and New Mexico.
And truly the only weak links would be San Diego State, Wyoming and UNLV. The conference would be BCS after a few years by forcing a BCS "review."
Additionally, the added three wouldn't hurt basketball either.
I got rid of Wyoming and added Memphis. Which would increase the Basketball profile.
RockyMtnRamFan is probably right to include CSU and leave out Tulsa.
The remaining schools could form a small private school league consisting of Tulane, SMU, Rice, Tulsa, and a few other regional schools.
Wyoming is apart of the so-called Gang of Five (BYU, Air Force, Colorado St, Utah and Wyoming). That's the whole reason they were allowed to come to the MWC from the WAC in the first place because they add basically nothing.
Wyoming has done more in the MWC than SDSU, plus they have regional rivlaries with CSU, BYU, Utah and AFA.
It's about television sets my friend.

And in reality I was defending them, which is exactly what I meant in mentioning their rivalries i.e. the Gang of Five.
Still, Wyoming doesn't add much. Reality.
Having said that, TV sets or not, they will always be grouped with the aforementioned teams unless they fail to keep their program on the same level as the others in every capacity.

That is a solid basketball/football line-up
All those schools are located in (1) a state with no other BCS school (2) a huge football first state (3) a big metro area
These schools all have big enough stadiums and Houston could play big games in Reliant or whatever the Texans stadium is called.
Now, I believe the winner of that league should be in a BCS league. Options for a 12th school would be Southern Miss and Tulsa. I question Tulsa's stadium capacity, not their program. This could be possible if the Cotton Bowl were added to the slate. Anybody got Jerry Jones email?
I think I can do one better. New 12 team Mountain West Conference
Mountain:
Memphis
Tulsa
Houston
New Mexico
Air Force
TCU
Western:
BYU
Utah
UNLV
Boise St.
Fresno St.
San Diego St.
Championship game at the home field of the better team by record, like CUSA does it.
In Football this conference might be better than the Big East, in Basketball they are probably better than Pac-10 and Big Ten. The Western division might be better than the Big East in football.
And for you haters who say this conference is too spread out. Distance from Memphis to San Diego 1564 miles. Distance from El Paso to Greenville, NC 1410 miles. I wonder which flight would be easier.
What kind of drugs are you on? I mean, seriously. The MWC isn't better then the Big East (even MWC fans admit that now), yet you claim that a division 4 teams from the MWC, Boise State and Fresno is better then the Big East!?
Ok I would like to revive this thread now.

No apologies needed. A simple Firmbizz you were right, and I was was wrong will suffice.

RE: OT- A 7th BCS league
Like i've been saying all along. All you need to do is add Fresno, Boise St and Hawaii to the MWC and you have a BCS conference. But its up to the MWC to pull off such a move. I can't see the top schools from both conferences breaking away from the respective conferences and forming a new conference. And I don't see Memphis being invited to join this new conference. But who knows these next few years will be interesting from all fronts.

Look for this to happen when the BE splits and the new BCS contracts happen.

I don't think we'll see the B.E. splitting anytime. If Nova and Georgetown wasn't towards the top of the B.E. Then you'd see a split. I don't know bro its going to be a while.

Not when the 2010 contracts end. In the west we all know that Boise State an Fresno State have been lobbying hard to be in the MWC. Everybody in the WAC knows it as well. The only question is who is #12? Nevada? Hawaii? UTEP?

No Hawaii. Add Houston instead. That would be a solid 12 school league.
Though, I think it would be better to add the Cotton Bowl and either the Banker (Tangerine/Citrus)Bowl or Chicken (Peach)Bowl to the BCS, then add two new BCS leagues and set all the regions the way they should be.
