Fresno St. Alum Wrote:you guys talk about Georgia So. & App St. getting into the Belt. Will the SBC go to 14,15,16? If no then they'll have to wait for a Big East split and dominos to fall. Plus It's Georgia So.,Texas St., and Jacksonville St. that are exploring FBS right now. App St. isn't on the list.

The SBC Commish has stated that the conference is not looking to expand, but who knows what the future holds for any of us.

App St. in not doing a study, they should though.

Schools doing an FBS study

Georgia So., Jacksonville St., Texas St., UMass

Doing a D-I FCS study
N.Alabama

Moratorium until 2011 for those move ups

Adding FB
Old Dominion (FCS)
S.Alabama (FBS)
Lamar (FCS, vote passed today)

Looking to add FB
Charlotte
UTSA

there are some others but they seem further off

RE: Why not Divisions? What two to add?
Now that it looks like South Alabama has their sights set on CUSA a two division sun belt would look a little different

1. UTSA
2. Texas State
3. Lamar
4. North Texas
5. ULL
6. ULM

1. Arkansas St
2. Western Ky
3. MTSU
4. Troy
5. FAU
6. FIU

That would be a solid league with a couple of spots left for future additions

Coog, Where did you hear about USA and Conference USA? There had been rumors about it in the Mobile area when Conference USA first formed, but I hadn't heard anything since.

How about SIU? Don't know if they would be interested but they are a very solid AA, they are upgrading thier stadium, and thier basketball blows away anyone else we could get.

If SIU is willing to leave the basketball stronghold that is the Missouri Valley, then maybe so. It would help if the SBC were a consistent two-bid league.

RE: Why not Divisions? What two to add?
James Madison sits in Northern Virginia....with a stadium expansion that size you would think they have FBS aspirations. MAC would be very likely if Temple stays in the MAC and puts basketball in the MAC. That would make the MAC attractive to JMU. JMU is a lot like the MAC schools which are solid schools, but over shadowed by the Big Ten. JMU will never be an ACC school, but playing in the MAc would get them schedule agreements to host big name teams.
