Rumor:
Rumor: High school PG O.J. Ovworo from Houston committed to the Vandals over the weekend. No announcement on a signing yet. This gives us the following, if Maric comes through:

Michael Crowell - SF (6'7", 210 lbs, Central Arizona College) - JR

Lorenzo Ecford - PF (6'9", 210 lbs, Kennedy King College - Illinois) - JR

Mario Mackey - PG (5'10", Otero JC - Colorado) - JR

Petar Maric - PF (6'10", 210 lbs, Serbia) - FR

Trevor Morris - SG (6'4", Miles CC - Montana) - SO

O.J. Avworo - PG (6'0", 170 lbs, Alief Elsik HS - Houston, TX) - FR

Some information on Avworo, who was seriously recruited by Stanford, Tulsa, and a handful of Ivy League programs:

Darin Nagle to Idaho
It's been reported that Nagle has committed to Idaho:

http://www.spokesmanreview.com/blogs/vandals/

Huge news for us, and gives us a class that looks really good on paper. The Vandals really wanted this guy, and I think will be very glad that he's landed in Moscow.

Pfeifer seems to be pulling a complete overhaul of the talent in Idaho's basketball program. I'll be curious to see who returns from the previous season-it's not looking like very many. We have 7 signed (6 if Maric doesn't make it on campus), and it appears that Pfeifer and Washington are still recruiting. The really good news is that we're bringing in two 6'10 guys and a 6'9 at forward, which with redshirt sophomore Mitchell Johnson (6'5 and incredibly athletic) and JC transfer Michael Crowell (6'7, also reportedly very athletic) at small forward should really revamp our talent and depth in the front court.

Wow, no kidding. That can only be a good thing, right?. ;-)

That gives Idaho something like 17 players. Are any walk-ons? Anyone leaving other than Dubois?

It's possible that some, either current or incoming, aren't on athletic scholarships. For example, the new PG O. J. Avworo looks like he could be on academic rather than athletic scholarship. I have a hunch that he may have qualified for a full tuition waiver. Who knows about other guys, with Pell Grants, etc.

Even so, I think a lot of the guys on last year's team are probably leaving the program by transferring to D-II or NAIA schools. Some may be graduating (ex., if they redshirted a year or had a grayshirt year for injuries, certain players could already have the credit hours to graduate, although they NCAA eligibility remaining). I'm curious to see who's coming back. Pfeifer has not wasted time to bring new blood into the program...

The rumor right now is that shooting guard Josh Akognon from Washington State is considering a transfer to Idaho, because he isn't happy with the offense/coaching style at WSU. We'll see if it happens. We'd be happy to have him. He'd have to sit out a year, but would have two years of eligibility remaining with the Vandals. He's looking at other schools, as well.

It's now somewhat clear who's returning, and it ain't many:

http://mb4.scout.com/fidahofrm4.showMess...1534.topic

I would imagine we'll still be signing 1-3 players.

Fresno St update - link: Eppinger out; Blair in

Robert Eppinger has decommitted and according to his HS coach "likely will play in the Midwest."

FSU inked Alex Blair F 6-8 210 from Highland CC in Illinois. Blair's signing gives the Bulldogs 10 players on scholarship, with 3 to give. "[FSU coach Steve] Cleveland said two of those scholarship will be reserved for potential four-year transfers."

Idaho with another
JucoJunction has guard Miles Webb on his way to Idaho. It's been rumored for a while that we'll be signing Webb and a forward from his current JC (Dex Manswell, I believe). Webb played a freshman year for Minnesota:

http://www.gophersports.com/feature/feat...id=mbasket

The UI official site also announced departures from the previous season:

http://www.uiathletics.com/pages/sport.a...&PageID=13

Sorry to see the Idaho guys cut, but I hope Smith and maybe Forge stick around and try to work their way back to scholarships.

No mention of Petar Maric or last year's redshirt/transfer Mitchell Johnson.
