Check out this link. One of these guys is predicting FSU, BSU, Nevada, and Louisiana Tech all go bowling this season. As the obvious low man on this totem pole, it's good to read.

I'm not exactly sure how we would do it. I think that Tech would have to win the next 4 and then lose to Fresno. It'll be interesting to see how the season plays out.

The linked article (from today's Shreveport Times) doesn't contain any real news, but includes a couple noteworthy comments by Benson:

Since the Broncos haven't been to their hometown bowl since 2002, Benson said that he expects BSU to play there this season.

"More than likely a mainland team will play in Hawaii," Benson said.

La Tech is sitting nice, but if I were them I'd say that the USU game could be the biggest stumbling block. No we haven't been all that great this year, but we have been solid at home and Logan is not known for its warm weather late in the Autumn. It will be interesting to see what happens there.

USU is almost assuredly out of bowl contention. We will lose to Alabama and that will put us at 2-5. The schedule does get A LITTLE bit easier, but winning at Hawaii, and beating La Tech, Nevada, and at NMSU is not likely to happen. Especially winning on the islands. That loss at Idaho hurt our chances a lot.

I agree 100%. Many Tech fans are very concerned about the USU game. We don't play well out-west and USU looks more solid than the rest of the bottom pack. Hopefully our guys will realize what is at steak and play-up(pun intended). And, if we get all that right, what do we get? We get to play Boise for an "all or nothin'" type situation...we're sittin', but I'm not sure we're sittin' pretty.

I think the WAC will get at least 3. This season will probably be like last year in which there won't be enough teams to fill them all. If we only get 3, LaTech is likely to be the team left out, unless a bowl opening happens in the South/Southwest area like the guy above is predicting.

I know the paper here in Reno said that San Jose, Idaho, New Mexico St and I believe Utah St were all officially eliminated from postseason play and Hawaii was almost out. So that was leaving the four teams in the article.

However it all really doesn't matter until we play the games because strange things could happen with all those games. We have two huge games this weekend with Fresno at Hawaii and Nevada at Boise. If Hawaii and Nevada can win those games, I think WAC gets a lot more interesting.

[QUOTE=clpack,Oct 25 2005, 10:19 AM] The below article (from today's Shreveport Times) doesn't contain any real news, but includes a couple noteworthy comments by Benson: 1) a mainland team will likely play in the Hawaii Bowl (nothing surprising there); 2) Boise will probably play in the MPC Bowl (because they haven't played in it for the last two years...and they're unlikely to be ranked this year, so they won't be an attractive sell to another bowl).
