Just for fun, here is a short comparison of the new WAC (sorry Rice, SMU, Tulsa, just getting started early) enrollments and athletic budgets. I listed operating and total athletic budgets. I think operating budgets tends to give a little better sense, as they even out things like scholarships and allocated department costs that can vary greatly. Not perfect of course, since booster club contributions are not included, but gives a little idea...(figures are for 2002-03, so of course things can change...)

School: Enrollment (in thous), Oper ($ millions), Total ($ millions)
Hawaii: 18.7, $3.4, $18.1
Fresno: 21.2, $2.8, $20.1
San Jose: 30.0, $2.6, $12.8
Boise: 17.6, $1.3, $13.7
Nevada: 15.0, $2.0, $14.4
La Tech: 11.2, $1.5, $9.1
UTEP: 17.2, $1.5, 10.6
NMSU: 15.2, $1.5, $9.4
USU: 22.8, $1.8, $8.9

USU numbers are "one campus" students, total enrolment is close to double when you take into account all of our satalite (extention) campuses, we've got one in every major city, every podunk little town in the rural areas (usually the county seat), even Wendover Nevada (boarder town).

So, when I update the WAC history website, can I get some Utah State info from you?
