It is about 6.5 hours to Reno and only about 5 hours to Logan!

I like how we measure distance in units of time. Is this a western thing only?
we did the same thing in the midwest.

we also told time by miles. which was rather odd, come to think of it....

04-drinky
Conferversion: About 440 miles to Reno and Around 300 miles to Logan.
Part of the trip to Reno is through Oregon with a 55 mile per hour speed limit that turns into 70 at the Nevada Border. Most of the trip to Logan is on the Freeway with a 75 MPH speed limit.

Measuring distance by time is more a more accurate measurement in the WEST. Too many traffic jams in the East to measure distance in time!

Adding Idaho to the WAC doesn't make sense to me at this time. UI needs to improve it's program (#117 even being in the worst conference according to CFN), improve it's low fan attendance and get a decent stadium built (no WAC teams should have to play in the Kibbie Dome). Adding a weak football program with low fan attendance, and a small outdated football stadium, will not benefit the WAC or its teams. If UI cleans up its act, then I would agree with BroncoBob, but not until then which will probably be several years.

It's either Idaho or bring up 1-AA's.

What??? The Cajuns don't want to join the WAC????
It looks like the Sun Belt is the one that is bringing in the D1AA's!

You're right on both counts.

The WAC would be the most stupid thing we've ever done. It's like real estate- Location, Location, Location.

We are bringing up a couple of 1-AA'a and 1-A Troy. We are taking care of our business. If the WAC wants someone else besides Idaho or more than Idaho, they will bring up 1-AA's. In case you haven't noticed, there are no more 1-A team left out west to add. 05-nono

College sports should be about competition not location. As for "bringing up" 1AA schools, that is done by the individual school and not the conference. In case you haven't noticed, the decision to move is not made by the fans. It is made by the school administration and the board of trustees. If we had a voice, I would not want any of the SBC schools except Idaho since most of your members don't provide enough competition to make a good addition. I want Idaho because I am a resident of that state feel state loyalty.

If L-Tech comes back to the SUNBELT next year or the year after, guess what the WAC will be doing?

Adding 1-AA schools.

Yes. In this day and age, CONFERENCES bring up 1-AA's because no school is crazy enough to make the jump without a 1-A conference invitation in hand.

As far as your competition comment, look for the SUNBELT to make lots of improvement conferece wide.

There is no way we could become more competitive in the WAC blowing money on travel. Look at L-Tech. They have become less competitive since joining.

If we add Idaho and La Tech does leave, we will be at 8. I doubt that La Tech will leave willingly. I am not sure if you believe that La Tech is outclassed by every SBC team or what, but you need to actually watch them play a game this fall.

It has been a while since I read the NCAA regulations, but I remember that any school looking to move to 1A is required to do the notification to the conference and not the other way around. I don't believe that any conference is allowed to make the initial contact between a 1AA program and the conference.

Good luck with next season and I hope you see the conference improvements you are looking for. I would not expect La Tech to leave the WAC anytime soon and not for any conference other than CUSA.
