Maybe.

WAC membership will drop to nine next year when four members depart and three arrive on July 1.

Benson said the WAC is considering adding a 10th member that will compete in every sport but football.

Benson confirmed that he has met with officials from the University of Denver, although no offer has been made.

Denver! Denver! Denver! I've been cheering for them for months! (OK, so most of it has been tongue in cheek, but still...)

Gotta love the David posts! :goldfish:

This makes a lot of sense and Denver will bring its strong women's programs to the WAC and its Men's basketball can only get better being in a much stronger league. Attendence at DU men's basketball should go up with more geographic rivals many of which have lots of Denver area alums. If it happens this would be a very positive ending to a long drawn out search for the right home. This would sure be a better ending to the story than the Mid Continent or some new league with the likes of North and South Dekoda States and Southern Utah.

I have nothing against Denver, but if we are going to have another basketball school, we really need one that also plays baseball... Baseball is where the WAC is in trouble with out enough teams.

Maybe the other WAC teams should add HOCKEY!!! :-D Of course, none of them will ever be allowed to defeat my beloved Gophers (Golden ones at that) or I shall ensure the death of your hockey program! OK, so I don't have that kind of power, but I will be pissed off! :D
