Yes, that is right!
Boise State has to play #117 rated Idaho.
BYU's program took an unexpected plunge from when the game was scheduled.
Oregon State is a great OOC game.
When Boise STate plays San Jose State, Boise States SOS goes down and the Spartans SOS goes up.

I look forward to next year when Idaho will be on all the WAC teams schedules!!!!!

We play 2-3 good teams this year, and that's the facts. Oregon State, Fresno and Hawaii have at least some preseason respect nationally. The rest of our schedule is full of teams ranked near 100, like Idaho, SMU, UTEP, BYU, SJSU, etc. Until the bottom of the WAC gets going and pulls their end of the deal we going to be near the bottom in SOS. Even next year with Georgia and Oregon St on the schedule we'll be near the bottom.

Need to point out too that the rest of the WAC has Boise State on their schedule, which boosts thier SOS nicely. We don't have that luxury.

The message to the incoming Aggies is to get your programs to the next level, we need you.

and New Mexico State is 110. What is your point? 75% of the games are conference games. Guess what, you guys don't improve our SOS when we play you in 06. You had better hit the weight room over the next year. Your going to need it. Go Broncos.

Chill Out Dude! It wasnt a flame.... I was just curious if Ya'll had a bad schedule this year (aside from the UTEPs that you have to play) just wanted info on your schedule and Boise fan's thoughts about the schedule.

I think we get a little sensitive with all the effort to schedule opponents to improve our sos and then we see it decline. I can't seem to find any published formula on how they arrive at a ranking so it must be PFM.

Hopefully, by 05 when we become more competitive. I don't think losing 50+ points is any fun.

I think there is hope. The professors who made it public that our football is in danger really hurt recruiting and most of all, team morale.
Now that the dust has partially settled, I just don't see us getting any worst. I don't think we will finish above the top 5 but I doubt we will be at the bottom as many predicted.
Coach Burns should be able to close the D a bit better than the previous HS D coach we had.

I guess the point of my question, and I didnt ask in the right way... was

Is Boise finding it hard to schedule good OOC games because of the recent sucess. Im sure top level Pac-10's and Big 12's dont even want to think about what it would do to them if they lost to a WAC school............... and they know damn well that you have the team that could possibly do it.

I remember a few years back when Fresno put some whoopings on the likes of Wisconsin (who was ranked at the time) and a few others.

I think we are at the point where we are too much of an unknown, so some teams may be reluctant to schedule us. Another factor is that we have been concentrating on getting 2-1 and 1-1 games with OOC opponents. We need more season ticket holders and a 1-0 won't get them to buy.
I was listening to IST a while back on a "Hawk Talk" day. They had the USC Assistant AD (he does the scheduling) on because he is a friend of Coach Hawkins. He asked the Assist AD about scheduling BSU and he said that it wouldn't happen. BSU is gaining a reputation for winning and it was too much of a chance. He could have been just being nice to a long time friend, but there seemed to be a lot of honesty in his voice when he said it.

Actually, a lot of Boise State fans think that this year's football schedule is the very best schedule in the history of the school. By that I mean Boise State plays 11 regular season games this season and SEVEN of those 11 games will be at home on the Blue Turf.

Additionally, one of those seven home games will be against Brigham Young University. That is HUGE to Boise State.....a HOME game against B.Y.U...........ten years ago nobody thought that would EVER occur.

Also, Boise State gets to play Oregon State at home here in Boise as well. That is also huge for Boise State.

And Boise State also gets Fresno State, Hawaii, La Tech and S.M.U. at home, as well as Idaho. This is a terrific schedule for Boise State and frankly I couldn't care less about someone saying it is a "weak" schedule. From my vantage point there is nothing "weak" about playing B.Y.U., Oregon State, Fresno State, Hawaii and La Tech.
