My apologies if this was mentioned here earlier, but I have seen no mention of it anywhere either here or on the other WAC board.

It certainly deserves to be mentioned here that the QB who transferred last year from Oklahoma to La Tech (Brent Rawls) has been declared academically ineligible.

The La Tech head coach, Jack Bicknell, was quoted at the WAC meetings last week as saying "Right now he's not going to be a part of the team".....and "I wish him the best of luck".

I remember when it was announced that he was transferring from Oklahoma to La Tech last September. The La Tech fans were just off the wall enthused about it.

Here's a link to the story on this from ESPN's website. It is dated July 30th:

Last I heard, he was dismissed from the team and is moving to Florida.

You don't go to class, you don't make the grades.

If you have the talent, you still need the drive and desire!
I don't get these kids that have the talent and just are not motivated.
There are lot of extremely motivated kids out there without the talent!
Life is Not Fair!!!!

LaTech usually has a stable of able quarterbacks!!!

Yeah, I don't "get" them either. Kids like Rawls and Boise State's potential All-WAC defensive end last season (Jason Wardlow), and Boise State's Tony McPherson and Donny Heck this season, etc. I don't get em'. They just don't seem to get the fact that college is a SCHOOL and you have to go to class and STUDY in school FIRST and then play later.

Fitz Hill does a good job of that.
Average GPA and graduation rate is way up.

Too bad he can't coach as well as he can educated.
Oh well, maybe this season is different.

Here's the story from his hometown newspaper:
<a href='http://www.shreveporttimes.com/latech/html/21B963AC-BC50-4BC2-ACBF-4638E3C7D460.shtml' target='_blank'>http://www.shreveporttimes.com/latech/html...8E3C7D460.shtml</a>

Most folks think Matt Kubik came out of the spring as the front runner at QB; howver, he was pushed by Donald Allen. Zac Champion (redshirt freshman) is in the mix along with JC transfer Andre Daniel. None have a Division I-A pass attempt to their credit, so it should be interesting.
