Now that most teams have an exhibition game under their belt, let's rank the WAC teams. Here's mine:
1) Rice-Harris is a monster and his supporting cast of McCreith (sp?) and Gillespi is pretty solid too.
2) UTEP-Thomas is an ubelievable scorer and Rivera is a great leader. Wish I could watch both Rice-UTEP games this year.
3) LaTech-Milsap and Powell are great and sounds like their backcourt will be improved
4) Nevada-The frontcourt is unmatched but the backcourt is unproven
5) SMU-could finish much higher. Hopkins makes this team a darkhorse to win the whole WAC Tourney come March.
6) Hawaii-Hawaii lost a lot but it seems like they always do. Great recruiting class and could also finish higher (basically picks 3-6 are a crapshoot, could end in any order)
7) Boise-I had them ranked much higher before the exhibition game. A few of last year's seniors may have been more important to this team than i originally thought.
8) Tulsa-They were young last year and Tulsa fans seem to think the loss of Parker is addition by subtraction. I'll believe it when i see it.
9) SJSU-Finally climbs out of the cellar
10) Fresno-Too many freshman. Could be a long long year.

I think Tulsa will finish in the top 5 of the WAC but I also think the 3-7 spots will be a dogfight with lots of shifting throughout the season. You, and Tulsa fans, will know a lot more this time next week. If TU loses to Wright State then it will be a long season, if TU beats Wright State and plays Arizona tough then I think a top 5 finish in the WAC will be very realistic, if TU beats Wright State and pulls the upset on Thursday then who knows how the season will pan out.

I agree, I wouldn't be surprised to see 3-7 in any order. Almost everyone will be capable of winning the WAC tourney this year.

1. UTEP - 4 starters coming back from an NCAA tourney team, floor coach back as well
2. Rice - Very solid team with a great inside presence and good coaching
3. LaTech - Will surprise a few people
4. Hawaii - Should win all 2nd night games on the islands
5. Nevada - Lost too much from last year...Coaching being the biggest factor
6. Boise State - Tell me that loss was a fluke!
7. SMU - Start the long road back...they have a good coach now

Will it be a long season? Luckily it's still early. I hope Tulsa can pull it together and finish the rest of the OOC schedule in a strong fashion.

7-10 only Boise State has a shot to shoot up.
