Come back and visit sometimes!
It was fun developing rivalries with you.
We will miss the fans of SMU, RICE and Tulsa.
And most of the fans from UTEP.

it has been a great run for the Miners in the WAC and I really hate to see it come to an end!!
I am going to miss playing BSU, Hawaii, FSU and Nevada......
I am one of the few Miner fans that wanted to stay in the WAC, but UTEP had to do what they felt was best for our programs....
I will always be a WAC fan and wish the teams nothing but the best!!

Do you have a picture of the front of the girls?
UTEP will regret its move to CUSA someday. Too much travel to obscure places. No Tradition!!!
But best wishes anyway!

Are you a baseball fan Laura?
Since we do not play baseball in Idaho, I know very little about college baseball. Most of the good college teams are in the south, aren't they! Weather puts a limit on the seasons in the north!

It will be interesting to see how things pan out. I still think if the Miners felt that the 4 schools being BSU, FSU, Nevada and Hawaii would stay put then we would still be a part of the WAC.
With CUSA the Miners are tied in with SMU, Rice, Tulsa, Houston and Tulane all schools with in their region. It would have been just as easy to have Houston and Tulane join the WAC to form an East ~ West split under the WAC banner. My question is di the WAC and Karl Benson even try??

I think Benson looked at all options. He really wanted to go to 12 schools when Boise State joined. He wanted to add Utah State and New Mexico State at that time, but UTEP did not want NMSU in the conference.
Benson often does not get the support for his vision from the member schools.

I agree, Benson is not the decision maker. It is the AD's and Presidents that vote.
Nice thing about the WAC now is that almost all of Boise State's traditional rivals are in the WAC.
Now if only Montana would join the conference........

It wasn't just UTEP. The central time zone schools would not vote for a 12-team lineup with 8 of the 12 teams in the Mountain/Pacific/Hawaii time zones. That is why, when Benson took a second shot at proposing a 12-team lineup, he tried to get UH and Tulane to move west into a WAC eastern division. That was the only way the central time zone schools would consider a 12-team WAC.
I think Benson is getting what he wants now, he always wanted the WAC to be the Western Athletic Conference, and now it's all-Western again (except for La Tech, of course). The new CUSA schools are getting an alignment that's better for them geographically, too. It will be good for everyone. Best of luck to WAC version 5.0.

The WAC still has a probably with LaTech in the Central Time Zone.
Need to find them a traveling partner, either in all sports, or all sports sans football!
WAC would have been perfect if the CUSA had taken LaTech instead of UTEP!
