Will the WAC be getting a new bowl in the future?

Anyone know anything about the possibilities of the new Poinsetta (sp?) bowl becoming a WAC vs. MWC tie in?

IMHO since the MWC schools separated from the WAC and left the schools behind that they did not want in their conference, I doubt the MWC would be interested in a bowl association with the remaining WAC schools. They have nothing to gain by helping the WAC. I suspect the MWC will seek a BCS opponent for all their bowls. It is not to their advantage to play the WAC; now PAC-10 they would go for in a heartbeat!

Not a slam on the WAC; just my thoughts.

But the MWC schools would also like a chance to beat Boise State or Fresno State or maybe even a Nevada. The bowls chance of being a success financially would be enhanced by a matchup of western schools. More fans would have an opportunity to travel to the game.

I sure hope the MWC uses your reasoning, Broncobob, while determining their options. I'm afraid, though, that "reason" is not one of the Mountain West's strongpoints. They like to do their own experiments, and then bail out when the going gets rough. (WAC 16 experiment, CSTV 03-confused, whats next?)

It is MWC vs at large. WAC, CUSA, and Navy have talked to the bowl.
