It is not the WAC's commissioner's fault that the membership changed. Blame the ACC commissioner for getting the ball rolling.

ACC: Added Miami and Virginia Tech in 2004. Boston College joins this season.

Big East: Cincinnati, DePaul, Louisville, Marquette, and South Florida join this season.

C-USA: Central Florida, Marshall, Rice, SMU, UTEP, and Tulsa join this season

Sun Belt: Florida Atlantic and Florida International join this season for football. Florida Atlantic's other sports join next season.

WAC: Idaho, New Mexico State, and Utah State join this season.

The New Mexico State Aggies will also be a good addition to the WAC, should have been added a long time ago. the Mac attack is serious about re-branding NMSU athletics to bring us back to the golden years of basketball and get the football program to be a consistent winner.

Utah State and New Mexico State should have been founding members of the WAC back in 1962! They also should have been added in the subsequent expansions that occured throughout the years. USU was blackballed by Utah and BYU, NMSU was blackballed by New Mexico and UTEP when they joined the league.

That is all water under the bridge now, we are in the WAC and damn glad of it! Lets make the WAC the best it can be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

True, Both Aggies have waited a long time to be part of the WAC.
Notice that both got in after those schools that were black balling them left.
Aggies fans are going to enjoy playing WAC teams this year instead of the Sun Belt teams.
SHould helpl recruting too.
Have you seen any difference in recruiting so far?

Well we got a new athletic director and a new football coach and assistants that have publicly said they would not have come to USU if it were not for the WAC invitation.

And many of the recruits have said they would not have considered us if we were still in the Big West/Sun Belt.

So the WAC has already helped us in recruiting! I would hate to think who would be coaching us if not for the WAC!

Some of the b-ball recruits mentioned the WAC as a drawing factor, however I think RT played the biggest role. I think in the long run the WAC will vastly help our recruiting even against our non-WAC rivals unearmom and el paso community college aka utep. While the sbc was a necessary home for NMSU for the past few years and a good friend I really think it hurt our basketball recruiting in particular. When we first entered the SBC the theory was we would dominate, that never matierialized....I think the inability to get quality players had a big role in that, now in the WAC we are in a more even playing field recruiting the west...especially with RT at the helm.
