UTEP fans are an interesting breed. There's a group that was posting on the WAC board and the UTEP board during their down years that's a very solid group.

Then there's the johnny come lately's who started posting during their recent successes in the last 2 years that can be a little aggravating. They believe that it is their mission to spread the word about the wonderful things going on in El Paso so they post and post and post and post and post about how great UTEP is.

They also have a tendency to swarm if their Miner sense tells them that somebody on the board doesn't recognize that UTEP is the greatest athletic program in the nation.

On the opposite end of the spectrum you have us Nevada fans. We're very reasonable fellows who are always quick to respect our opponents and never toot our own horn.

Seriously though, we have our share of idiot fans, and with our recent success in both hoops and football, as well as all the pre-season hype we're getting, you know they're going be thumping their chests. Same would happen anywhere else with such a sad football history that suddenly became a contender. Even our once-proud basketball program was down there for a few years.

Still, I don't think we're any different than any other school, some good posters and some annoying ones. I guarantee you, if we don't live up to expectations, you won't be hearing much of them, and you'll probably hearing a lot from the schools that ARE on top.

Reno, I will miss the rivalry that was building on the court between UTEP and Nevada. I'm very hopeful that we can continue to play each other out of conference, we had some real battles in the WAC recently, huh?

Meanwhile AD Boston & HC Mumme will be taking NMSU to greater Hights.

LMAO.....and this coming from a fan of a school that sucked BIG TIME in the Big West and the Sun Belt. The WAC will be no different to the Laggies.

NMSU is being ranked as one of the top ten worst football teams in the country for 2005 by every magazine out there, yet NMSU fans act like they willl be able to contend with everybody that they play against this year ..The Laggies are playing 7 2004 bowl teams like UNM, BSU, FSU, UTEP, Hawaii, California, and Colorado..LOL! you guys are going to get destroyed in almost every single game you guys play in this year.

Here is an example: NMSU is ranked #113 out of 119 schools in the country this year by Athlon Sports..they are predicting that your first 7 games of the year will be losses, ouch! :laugh: Idaho, SJSU, and USU are the only games that they think you guys actually have a chance to play in, but are calling them swing games. They predict no wins for NMSU.

I predict an 0-12 record for the Laggies, I wish you bad luck in the WAC, and good luck to the rest of the WAC teams when they play against you.
