What does everyone think have been the best WAC and non-WAC games of their respective team?
There have been greater games in the past, but as far as games I've personally seen..
For LaTech, the funnest WAC game I've been to was probably either the Fresno game last year at home, or the Nevada game at home in like 2002. That Nevada game was a massive shootout, my God. I remember a Nevada guy getting flipped in the air and landing on his feet in the endzone and I'm the only Tech fan that jumped up and clapped. I thought he deserved those 6 points!

As for non-WAC... hm.... probably.. either the Oklahoma State game in Shreveport in 2002 or the Michigan State game in 2003. That Ok. State game was loud as hell and I think attendance was probably like 47,000 or something, I dunno. The Mich. St. game was good because of the last two minutes of "oh-my-God" Luke McCown touchdown drives that won the game. Probably, most people are in love with the back-to-back 'Bama wins and the tie with Maryland in the Independence Bowl with a jam-packed Indy Stadium, or the Colorado State beating there.

Enough LaTech-love, what are you guys' favorite moments in your teams' histories?!
This should help the summer football drought pass a little better!

My best WAC game is still the '99 2OT Hawaii-Fresno. It was wild and crazy. Nothin like that since.

My best non-WAC game would be the BYU hammering in '01. BYU was going to sue the NCAA or BCS for snubbing them from a bid. BYU was coming in undefeated. BYU had the best offense in the nation. Nothin less, another BYU shutdown in the islands. 72-45. I loved it :D

Best OOC game. I think it was in 01' when Fresno State beat the tar out of then #1 rated Oregon State (Sports Illustrated) on National Television in a Jam packed Bulldog Stadium.

Best WAC game #1. I think the 01' Fresno- Boise game was a hell of a game, even though the outcome was not as I would have wished 03-banghead

Best WAC game #2. I think the Fresno State- SDSU game in 92' where a Trent Dilfer led FSU beat a Marshall Faulk led SDSU team was a hell of a game as well for the then WAC members.

I'll limit my time frame to only the WAC years, and not get into the those great games in the more distant past of San Jose. Since 1996, when SJSU joined the WAC, here are the greatest games:

Greatest WAC Game
Easy. The 2000 game against #9 ranked, undefeated TCU that was nationally televised on ESPN2. TCU had Ladainian Tomlinson, SJSU countered with Deonce Whitaker at tailback, both of who were the top two leading rushers in the nation at that point. Spartans stunned TCU 27-25, ending the Horned Frogs BCS Bowl hopes.

Runner up WAC games:
1997 vs Top 25 Ranked Air Force. SJSU 25 - AFA 22 (again on national TV)
2004 vs Rice. Final score SJSU 70 - Rice 63.
2004 vs Top 10 Ranked Boise S. Final score Boise St. 56 - SJSU 49 (in OT, on ESPN).

Greatest non-WAC Game (Since 1996):
2002 vs Illinois. SJSU scored the game winning, 38 yard FG on the last play of the game, to defeat the defending Big 10 champion Fighting Illini 38-35 in Champaign, Illinois.

Runner up:
1998 vs Stanford. Spartans end a long losing streak to the Cardinal, winning 35-23 in Palo Alto. This victory was the first of three in a row that SJSU would have over Stanford from 1998 to 2000.

I can't believe no one can think of any more! There's got to be some fun games to reminisce about.

For the life of me, I can't think of a truly meaningful WAC win for Nevada...I sense one's coming this year. 03-wink

Best non-WAC game, hands down:

Nevada 28 Washington 17 @ Seattle, Oct 11, 2003

A crowd of 70,000+ watched the Wolf Pack break the Huskies’ 10-game OOC home winning streak, despite Nevada being flagged 17 times for 149 yards. It was a huge win for coach Chris Tormey, former Washington assistant. But not huge enough, as a 1-4 finish to the season, including a 56-3 thrashing in Boise, cost him his job.

Stars of the game:
Maurice Mann: 7 catches for 168 yards; 25 yd TD
Andy Heiser: 19-29 passing for 299 yards; 3 TDs
Chris Barry: 2 blocked FGs
Jorge Cordova: 5 sacks
Chris Handy: 37 yd interception for TD
Marlon McLaughlin: 1 int; held All-American Reggie Williams to 3 catches
B.J. Mitchell: 21 carries for 84 yards

Washington quotes:
"We got beat in every phase of the game - offense, defense and special teams," Huskies coach Keith Gilbertson said. "Nevada outplayed us and they won the game. We played poorly in every department."
"We all need to take a look in the mirror, everybody as an individual," tailback Rich Alexis said. "You can't point out certain people."
"We stunk out there today," linebacker Greg Carothers said. "You can't say much else."

Best WAC game: 2001's 35-30 win over #8 ranked Fresno State

Best non-WAC game: 53-34 win over Oregon State last year.... Most entertaining one - Liberty Bowl last year

I know this was a lost for Nevada, but the 1995 Las Vegas Bowl was pretty cool. Toledo and Nevada played in the game. Toledo won 40-37 in the first overtime game in Division I-A football history. Toledo went undefeated that year and had an awesome running game, while Nevada went 9-3. Two of Nevada's losses that year were to Toledo, 49-39 during the regular season and 40-37 in the bowl game. Nevada's other loss was 30-27 to San Diego State.
