I wouldn't go there anyway, it's in Wrigleyville.

if you are concluding big ten fans are lethargic compared to Huskie fans at home , you must be referring to NIU-Iowa games or Illini-Indiana games and certainly NOT higher profile games with more on the line than say Iowa-Ohio State or UM-MSU or alot of other BT matchups.
Case in point...lethargic...riiiight. Some games just lend themselves to lethargy.
Lethargy in full display...

Ever sit on the west side of Huskie Stadium??
Here we go again... before the season even begins. Pick any college stadium in the nation and the student section is going to be loudest.
How about if we call a truce and neither side rips on the other this season? After all, we're all Huskie fans.

The West side's not even that bad. I don't get all the hate for it.
Do you ever sit over there - they yell at you to sit down ALL the time - 99% of those people never have to get out of there seats because they are wearing Depends!
The West Side REALLY sucks!

Amen to that. There were numerous times, when I was on the west side, I was told to sit down and be quiet. Not to mention that one time when some old ******** started throwing crap at 38 on the west side.
It really does suck.

That is NOT true! I get out of my seat twice per game. Okay, so it's to change my Depends, but at least I get out of my seat!

yeah, yeah, yeah, but how about we just leave it alone like NIUHuskie has suggested and stop the bitching about it already?

Yeah.........I have season tickets on the west side.
Maybe I sit by a group of people who are different from most of the people on the west side, but I never have any problems.

During seasons where NIU Football is very good and exciting, such as 2003 and 2004, do students still get up and leave early like they seemed to last year from what i witnessed?

Actually just the opposite. I felt Iowa was quite into it (except the 'W' section. It sounded like I....O...... ........A...... IOWA, IOWA, IOWA).
I was not impressed by the Michigan crowd. Sure you can cram 100,000 sardines in a can and do the slow wave, but NIU students in my section were standing and cheering, and taunting the M fans to stand up and do the same for Blue.
I can't say anything bad about OSU fans. I have a feeling Wisconsin will be routiest (if that's a word)

Ok, I'll take a :pwnt: on that one. It really just must have been the Michigan game that soured my opinion.

The atmosphere (and money) ought to be favorable for both programs. Furthermore, there is the extra benefit to both our programs recruiting-wise in the Chicago area ... a nice target area for both our program. The more hype and hoopla the better for us both.
Also, the point is well made ... having so many fans from NIU going to the game will certainly be impressive. It certainly WON'T give you the extra crowd advantage if you were playing at home ... however, the scales won't totally be tipped in Iowa's favor in that regard either.
I think that the folks who say that it will be like a bowl have the right idea. However, the thing to remember is that Iowa tends to play really well in bowl games ....

Hopefully Iowa plays more like Troy than TCU in this bowl-like game.

Quote:An undetermined number of tickets likely were purchased through other outlets, such as McDunna's Bar in the Lincoln Park neighborhood near downtown Chicago.
Iowa alum Ryan Rooney owns the establishment, and, sensing a sellout, bought 1,400 tickets that he provided Iowa fans
"We bought the tickets through Northern Illinois," the 1996 Iowa graduate from Des Moines said. "I don't know that they know that 1,400 people in black and gold will show up in their section."
McDunna's will open at 8 Saturday morning. "We're expecting a lot of Hawkeye fans," said Rooney, whose place is at 1505 West Fullerton Ave.
"We've got buses that will shuttle people back and forth, and we're near the Red Line - people can hop on the train.
"It's going to be a fun weekend."
The above is from a Des Moines Register article from today. I'm not sure exactly how many other tickets were purchased by Iowans directly home NIU, but trust me that I continue to hear that it's a very substantial number.

Nice find Rydw.
I went to HS with Ryan Rooney.
