Hey Cowboy, dont worry about this macreportonline article. It doesnt it doesnt have much merit to it>..(ridiculous if you ask me)...very amateur....Not mentioning any of our offensive players..ie, Bohmet at TE, Walton at Guard, Fretz at Guard and very well could be the best offensive lineman in the MAC, T.J. Lang..6' 5" and 290 lbs. Though they mentioned alot of good o-lineman, most of them are scrubs....sorry, I usually dont brespond to ridiculous predictions, but this one takes the cake!
.
EW - Very sorry to read your comments.
Amateurish? Whom from EMU was not on the team that would have been more deserving than the ones named? We picked Holtzclaw as our defensive MVP for this year. In other words, who do we take off the team and replace with an EMU player? Back it up with facts too.
We interviewed every coach and several staffers across the MAC before, during and after Spring ball. Spent weeks moving players in and out of the team as we developed information. Our final report was picked up by Toledo TV and other media outlets and was featured on several of the official websites of MAC schools (BG, WMU and OU for example). We have garnered the respect of the MAC which frequently carries our reports on their official website. At Football Media Day I will be running the MAC News Media Assoc meeting and Rick Chryst will be our invited guest.
We put countless hours into this. How in God's name could we name Bohnet, a terrific student/athlete, All-MAC over guys like Hill, Ledbetter or Hopkins? Hey, I love EMU and wish I could name a dozen Eagles to the team. The OL players we named are scrubs? Give me a break. You are looking at this through green shaded eyeglasses while we have to view it in a non-partisan fashion.
It's only a preseason team. The one that counts is at the end of the year when you can assign more tangible qualities to the selections.
Did we get everything right? No. Akron feels we should have included Mackey and Stokes on the team; Buffalo believes we should have included Starks and Stevens and Toledo believes Hopkins should have been included. There are only so many slots available and many deserving players. I hate leaving deserving kids off but that is the reality of selecting a team with limited spaces. I suppose we could name a 4th team All-MAC, honorable mentions, etc...but then it begins to lose meaning.
In August when we do our feature on one player from the East and one from the West, we plan on featuring Jason Jones. Trust me, nobody gives EMU more love than we do but we have to be balanced.
When we do our full conference preview we will of course have more information on other players. This was more to whet the appetite and start the coversation going.
Nobody is doing what we do for MAC coverage. Other media outlets come to us for their MAC information. The MAC REPORT Show is our creation, broadcast at our expense.
I have no problem debating the merits of some of our picks...hell, that's what makes this fun. This product is intense and time consuming. I write for several publications, including the preseason mags. My point is that this was not done by somebody with a couple of spare hours in the evening sitting around in his shorts swilling a beer.
It's very easy to slam isn't it?
