MVC and WAC hold the key
These two conferences hold the future of all of the non BCS school in their hands. The majority of the school in these conferences are in states that have no schools in BCS conferences. Thus making the law makers in these states the only ones that can go after the illegal monopoly of the BCS and bring it to it's knees. In the past it was not uncommon for the schools that are in the big conferences to steal any young and up and coming coach from non BCS conferences. But today we have the BCS schools paying coaches in secondary sports such as baseball the same salary as non BCS schools pay their football and basketball coaches. These school can buy up any talented coach and pay them more as assistants than non BCS schools can pay them as head coaches. If we do not bust up this monopoly we will see football divided into 3 divisions BCS, 1A and 1AA. Then all sports in any school not in the BCS conferences will be permanently rendered insignificant. We could see ALL of the at large bids to post season tournaments given out to the BCS schools if the trend continues. Their control of the media will make it harder and harder for teams outside of the BCS schools to pick up even the occasional sleeper blue chip. Even if a non BCS school does pick up a major surprise the players will not get the respect than less quality player on BCS school get. Do not kid yourself not only can this happen it has happened over the past two years. Two years ago a running back from a non BCS school sets national records for most career 100 yard games, most all purpose yards in a career, most yards per carry for a career and was one of small handful of players to rush for over 6000 yards in a career. At the heisman awards instead of inviting the top 3-5 players to NY instead they only invited the players from BCS schools. This past year a player who had far inferior stats but went to a BCS school not only was invited to NY, he also won another national running back award. We have to break up this monopoly before all non BCS schools are made irrelevant. Call your senator and congressman and state attorney general and demand action.
