From Seminoles.com;

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State football team conducted its second full scrimmage for the spring season Saturday morning at Doak Campbell Stadium. The scrimmage, which lasted approximately two hours, began with position drills before moving into the offense vs. defense drills.

"I think it was a pretty good scrimmage," said head coach Bobby Bowden. "There were some pretty darn good plays out there today. I thought collectively they got better. You gotta feel better after 11 practices. You're supposed to get better after 11 practices and I think they all have gotten better."

Redshirt-sophomore Chris Rix highlighted the offense and led all passers, as he went 7-for-11 with 126 yards and two touchdowns. Rix led the first-team offense to a touchdown in the first possession of the scrimmage with a 31-yard strike to sophomore wide receiver P.K. Sam. Later in the day Rix hit Sam 35 yards down field for the duo's second touchdown connection.

"Chris Rix had an excellent day," commented Bowden. "He had two touchdowns off the bat and threw two more, which I thought we should have caught. He's held his ground, but the others [quarterbacks] have made improvements. If they all stay healthy, they'll get better, nobody has maxed out."

For the day, Sam caught four balls for 87 yards and two TDs. Fellow sophomore receiver, Craphonso Thorpe led the receivers in receptions with four.

On the ground, senior Lamar Parish led the Tribe with 36 yards on seven carries. Redshirt-freshman Willie Reid turned in 34 yards on 14 attempts, while walk-on George Shuler rushed for 20 yards on two carries.

The defense was not to be outdone, however. Sophomore defensive end Eric Moore led the way with a sack and two tackles for loss. For the day, the Seminoles' defense turned in six sacks. Near the end of the scrimmage, the defense managed to keep the offense from scoring with two big fourth-down stops. Senior Jerel Hudson had the defensive play of the day when he picked off Adrian McPherson in the end zone on a fourth a goal situation.

Following the full scrimmage, the team moved on to work on redzone drills from the 20-yard line. During the drill, redshirt-sophomore quarterback Fabian Walker went 3-for-3 for 13 yards and a touchdown to sophomore tight end Paul Irons.

The scrimmage ended with goal line drills. The offense and defense nearly split as the offense scored four out of seven times.

Injury Report: Jeff Womble suffered a stinger in his left shoulder during the scrimmage. There were no other injuries to report.

4 out of 7. I know the vaunted Nole defense is good, but might there be some offensive problems? A goal line offense with 4 downs should be able to score nearly every time.

I believe the offense will be alright. Most of the time, they are running new plays and of course, the personnel has to jell a bit. Yeah, our D is going to be real good this year <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" />

The big question for the Jackets is the QB and the lines. But of course, the two go hand in hand. Our line needs to make it as easy for the QB as possible, and our d-line needs a bigger interior presense.

Our lines got bullied around last year, and hopefully Gailey's nfl experience will change that.

And of course, hopefully we won't get robbed vs. you guys in Atlanta like we did last time...

Garnet and Gold game summary, from Seminoles.com

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Quarterback Chris Rix completed 12 passes for 125 yards and sophomore wide receiver Craphonso Thorpe caught six passes for 107 yards to lead the Garnet to a 23-0 victory over the Gold in Florida State's annual spring football game at Doak Campbell Stadium.

The game was played as offense (Garnet) vs. defense (Gold) and played in four quarters of 15 minutes each. The second half was played with a running clock. Florida State's four quarterbacks: Rix, sophomore Adrian McPherson, junior Fabian Walker and sophomore Matt Henshaw all played and helped move the offense throughout the afternoon.

"I thought it was a good, solid spring game," said head coach Bobby Bowden. "The offense got better every scrimmage we had, there's no doubt about it. They have taken the opening drive and taken it for a touchdown against our number one defense the last three scrimmages in a row. The good news is that after that, they (the defense) kept them off the board pretty good. It was a good spring. We're a lot further along than we were a year ago. We're not good enough to do what we want to do yet, but if we stay healthy and the boys will keep working, maybe we can do it. I thought probably all of them played with some improvement and that's about what you try to accomplish in the spring. We try to get everybody better and I really think we might have done that."

Rix led the Garnet team to a productive afternoon as he spread his passes out over a number of receivers. In addition to Thorpe's 100-yard receiving day, senior wide receiver Travis Smith caught four passes for 105 yards and sophomore wide receiver P.K. Sam caught six passes for 70 yards.

Senior running back Greg Tony scored on a six-yard touchdown run in the first quarter Smith caught a 38-yard pass from Hanshaw in the fourth quarter to account for the game's only touchdowns. Sophomore kicker Xavier Beitia connected on three field goals, including a 51-yarder at the start of the fourth quarter, and added two extra points for the remainder of the scoring.

Rix completed three of his first four passes as he drove the Garnet squad down the field for a touchdown on the first possession of the game. The drive was culminated by Tony's six-yard burst up the middle into the endzone. Tony had eight yards on two carries for the day.

Senior Nick Maddox was the most productive of the Seminole runners and finished the game with 44 yards on seven carries. Freshman Willie Reid gained 20 yards on nine carries and junior Greg Jones had 11 yards on seven carries.

Defensively, junior Michael Boulware's led the Gold team with eight tackles. Senior Alonzo Jackson and sophomore Kyler Hall recorded six tackles each. Jackson led the team with three sacks. Hall, senior Stanford Samuels and junior Claudius Osei all recorded interceptions.

The Florida State coaching staff announced its spring awards prior to Saturday's game. Senior defensive end Alonzo Jackson earned the Hinesman Award as the most dominate player. He also earned the award as the most dependable defensive end. Senior offensive guard Montre Holland earned three awards. He was named the most valuable offensive player, the king of the boards and earned the leadership award for the offensive players. Junior Stanford Samuels was a duel winner as he earned the most valuable defensive player award and the most outstanding defensive player.
