Parade All-Americans were released. UNC got there 3 sensational recruits on the 1st team along with some other outstanding players. Hopefully these guys will be awesome next year when they suit up for the Heels. Here's a link for the first team from InsideCarolina:http://northcarolina.theinsiders.com/2/42048.html

May being a 1st teamer? Yeah right, fatass would be lucky to get honorable mention. McCants a 1st teamer also? What a joke. He should be 2nt team at best.

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. -- The game was billed as Sean May vs. Shavlik Randolph, but May stole the show.

The previous day, May had one great game followed by a mediocre outing. On Friday night, however, the Indiana product made a very strong case for top power forward in the nation honors.

Of the country's arguably top three power forwards who were in North Augusta, S.C. this week -- May, Randolph and Shelden Williams -- May rose to the top, outplaying both Williams and Randolph.

Matt Doherty sat courtside as May netted 37 points Friday night against Randolph and the Raleigh Heat, scoring from inside and out beyond the arc (3-5 3pt.), and posted 14 rebounds and five assists.

May's got just about everything a college looks for in a big man -- and more: big, soft hands, deft low post moves, strong upper body, extraordinary quickness and footwork for 260 pounds, and exceptional passing skills. Dominating on the low blocks, he also has deep range on his jump shot, swishing mid-range and three-point shots

NORTH AUGUSTA, Ga. --

Sean May vs. Shelden Williams. 6-8, 260 pounds vs. 6-9, 240 pounds.

This was the biggest morning matchup on the first day of the Peach Jam today, in Augusta, Ga. - and May was the better blue-chip recruit on this day.

The Indiana native, playing for Bloomington Red, used his power and quickness to score 23 points and grab nine rebounds.

For a player his size, May displayed exceptional skills. On the blocks, he scored with solid post moves. From the perimeter, he dribbled by his defender and finished with his soft touch. He even stepped out and hit the perimeter jumper - including the three. And when the defense swarmed him, he made great looks to open teammates (four assists).

"I thought I played all right," May said.

If he was only "all right" this morning, then one can only imagine what a "great" performance would be under his standards.

Williams scored 20 points, but his points came mostly from dunks and the free throw line.

May only guarded Williams in the second half, but certainly held him in check, though he said afterward that he's capable of a much better defensive performance.

Sitting at center court was Matt Doherty and Doug Wojcik.

May said the Tar Heels are one of the two schools that are atop his list - the other being the hometown Hoosiers.

"I got a chance to talk to Coach Doherty on the phone last week," May said. "He had a lot of great things to say. The spot that's open at Carolina is the four, and that's where I want to come in and play."

He plans to take an official visit in September to Chapel Hill and decide in November.

"Rashad [McCants] tells me all the time how beautiful North Carolina is and that it's a great place to play," May said.

May said that while a scholarship offer hasn't been officially extended, he assumes it will be.

He admitted that Indiana will be tough to beat. Can the Tar Heels really beat out the Hoosiers?

"If it's true that [Chapel Hill]'s a beautiful place and I like the players after hanging out with them - and that's the type of players I want to be with for the next four players - then that'll determine it."

I guess the "fat ass" can play.

Sean May scored 33 points yesterday against Shelden Williams and Athlete's First.

Surprising? Not at all.

We became believers about two weeks ago at the Peach Jam, when May combined for 60 points, 23 boards and nine assists in two games against Williams and Shavlik Randolph.

Few at the high school level have as much potential as May for college greatness. At 6-8, 260 pounds, he's a handful in the paint with a strong upper body, a nose for the ball and a soft touch around the hoop.

But what separates him from the rest of the field is that he's got perimeter skills as well: handling the ball with ease in the open floor, burning defenders off the dribble or pulling up for a deep jumper -- with range out beyond the three-point line.

Comparisons? Think Elton Brand at Duke, but with more advanced dribbling and shooting abilities.

May will be the first to tell you he's not in top shape at this point, and it can show in an occasional sluggish performance during a long tournament. With some conditioning, he could be simply unstoppable

Great posts Rick. I have seen Raymond, Rashad, and David play, but I have not see Sean play yet. I have seen some video clips of him via the internet, but I didn't know anything about his awesome performances against big men like Shelden Williams and Shavlik Randolph. Sean sounds like a great player, hopefully he can help us out next year.

You post what Sean May did positively, but he was abused by Shelden Williams this year. Also, Shav was injured this summer and months before that.

McCants is pretty good IMO. He is top 10, but not even close to top 5. May is top 15, but CERTAINLY not top 5. Felton deserves it.

Hoops,
Parade has always been a POS. No one really values their AAs. I think Mickie Ds is the most reliable.

No Shelden is a joke.

Nate, May must really suck to be able to drop 33 on Williams. My response was to your post about May being a fat ass. As far as Parade/MD AA goes, who can say? I see your boy Williams is not even on the roster! May can send him a postcard. <img border="0" alt="[Laughing]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" />

What do you base that statement on?

By the way, the PAA team is voted on by coaches, recruiters and scouts. I am inclined to think they know more than you.

Anyone who places much importance in these AA lists is a dumb***. The McD list has been a joke for the past decade or so simply because it is driven by the media hype machines surrounding different schools as well as high school coaches such as Morgan Wooten who have too much say in the selection process. Wooten routinely pimps his own players onto the team. For the best example of a player making the squad simply because of what school he went to look no further than Neil Fingleton making the team 3 years ago.

Parade should stick to football AA lists.

Like LK said, Parade is a joke.

A lot of the coaches that decide haven't even seen half of the players play. Plus, they could really care less as long as "their boys" are on the team. Also, about the recruiters, do you trust Mark Mayemura and Clark Francis? :laugh"

Shelden got beasted once by Sean May. At the nike camp this summer though, Shelden beasted May. May did beast Shav, but like I said, Shav was injured the past year off and on.

Looks like there is no love lost between Rick and Nate, judging from this and the Phil Ford thread.

I think the Dukies are gettting a little worried about UNC's recruiting class. They obviously have a stellar class themselves with 6 players that are all probably top50 players, but I don't think they realized UNC's top 3 recruits (Felton, McCants, May) are 3 of the best 10 highschool seniors.

Rick,
I don't save links, nor do I care about them. I saw numerous accounts of Shelden beasting May over the summer at Nike camp over at TDD.
