Got my White Stripes cds in today/tonight..been listening. Give opinions tomorrow. So far a lot more stripped down that Elephant Either a more bluesy or more "alternative feel" than Elephant.

REVIEWED "THe White Stripes" and "De Stijl"

Pretty good amount of rockin numbers.... De Stijl has a little more stripped down numbers though. I'm still impressed they get all that sound out of a 2-piece. I'd have to say if you have like previous work then you will like these as well.

Might as well pin this to the top. Check out the Heartless Bastards. I urge you. Also, Montreal has quite a burgeoning music scene. The Decemberists, the Dears, and of Montreal (I imagine they're from there) all hail from the Quebecian city. The Dears are pretty sweet. If you like the Smiths, check 'em out (not the Smiths, but the Dears). The Decemberists are nice too. Typically rock college folk dig, but nice nonetheless.

I've also been trying to listen/download some of the Ponys, to no avail. If anyone has heard their stuff, I'd love to hear about 'em. I am willing to purchase, w/out listening. But I've heard they are fantastic (I'm a sucker for reviews).

Good call on the Allman Bros. And some new bands to check out; the Ponys (finally heard 'em), Sleater Kinney, the Corals, the Mountain Goats, Feist. Some older bands; Gang of Four, At the Drive-in.

Gang of Four...remeber the name...but no songs.

Also if you were into Allman Bros...I would assume you would like Gov't Mule. If I am not mistaken Gov't Mule has a few Allman Bros band members in it.

So drove up 1-71 this past Saturday to see a concert in Columbus. I wanted to see this local band (Cincinnati area), the Heartless Bastards. S@#t got started 'round 6ish and didn't end till 2ish. Got to hear some great bands. Two of my favorites were the something Empty Pockets and the High Strung. If anyone one's from Detriot, I'd love to hear about the High Strung, because they were fantastic.

Newest thing I have been pumping lately

Hustle & Flow soundtrack. I like it....it best when you want that ghetto loud aZz B A S S to thug out to. Whoop That Trick, I'm a King, Man UP, and Get Crunk, Get Buck are the best songs.

I should be getting Staind, "Chapter V" at the end of the week.

I'm not as big of a fan of their more mellow material than I am the heavier stuff, but I've listened to the album stream off of Myspace.com about a dozen times and like it more and more each time. It probably won't list as my favorite 311 release, but it's a solid record. Definitely going to make my way to the store tomorrow to pick it up.

Stains Chapter V review.

Good mix of hardrock and slightly slower rock music. Will need a few more listens to say what the best songs are IMO. I still think Break The Cycle ws their best effort to date. If you already like them you will like this release....not sure it would turn folks onto them or not.

About the only thing I don't like about them is that I can't take Aaron Lewis's voice for more than a few hours at a time.
