Yes, we're all incredibly thankful that our # 4 ranked Tigers were able to "steal" a win away from an unranked team. It will surely go down as one of the greatest upsets of all time.

That might be the dumbest post I've ever read on here.

No!! This fool has had a lot of other posts.

There is no Tennessee Rivalry
3601 Wrote:If Pearl can keep it going I can see this rivalry being similar to the Arkansas rivalry in the 1990's. Scott Edgar (Pearl's assistant who was also Nolan Richardson's assistant and recruited Memphis then and now) was on 560 at lunch today. His parting comment was, "The road between Knoxville and Memphis is getting shorter and shorter."

He is saying that because they need there to be one, we don't. Why can't you people see that.

1. They don't need the money.
2. They already play other "big name" schools in their conference.

They want to be able to tell a recruit that they get to play in front of mom at least twice.

Playing Tennessee in BASKETBALL only helps them, and if it wasn't for the money FOOTBALL would make no sense either.

They always want to take shots by getting recruits. What do they have to offer us? I guess Cal was right. Nothing! Just fun and bragging rights. But the overall picture is like we worry less about what is going on at East Tennessee than they do in the Memphis Metro. There is no one who can dispute that. Oxfart, Starkpatch, Fayetteville, and other surrounding schools need Memphis whether in past, present or future.

Alright, I will play along......

Memphis returns

Cooper
Dozier
Dorsey
CDR
Anderson
Allen
D-Wash (possibly)

Memphis adds

Bailey
Thierro (medical RS)
Niles
Willis
Kemp
Tyler Smith (possibly)
Stinson (walk-on, 3rd leading scorer in the city)

want to keep playing along or you really think Lofton, Childress, Chism, and Crews along with no bench are going to keep up?

I really think they're going to keep up. In fact, I think they will win that game rather easily. Especially since it will have been over a year since memphis played a tough game on an opponent's home floor.

Still waiting for someone to tell me your about your great road win's this year.

Let's see, we won at Alabama (at full strength) when they were ranked. Be beat Cinci (at full strength) on the road. We beat #12 UCLA on a neutral court.

As for the Tennessee game, I was never really worried about losing. We led for probably 33 of the 40 minutes, and had the lead for at least the last 15 minutes. 9 points isn't a blowout, but it was a comfortable win...very much like the game at Providence.

After Florida's double losses to South Carolina and their horrible non-conference schedule, the ONLY win that you can really hang your hat on is the Texas game (and lord knows we've heard about it ad nauseum).
Well congrats, you won. You played a great game, and really caught Texas off guard. You followed that up by getting knocked around by Ok. State. Your second most impressive non-conf win is against Lipscomb or Murray State...way to go.

Your team plays hard, and despite the man-love for Pearl, UT has talent. As stated before, Wingate was a 4 star recruit, and Watson, Lofton, Howell, Bradshaw, and Patterson were 3 stars. Peterson may have sucked, but Pearl didn't turn chickens*!t into chicken salad. If Pearl did this with the oleMISS team, that would be a different story.

You're right, easy win for the Vawls. Don't even worry about it. The Tigers will not be very good. The score will probably look something like the UTEP/UAB score last night. It will be a long trip home after the beating we take that night. Who knows, maybe ESPN will actually think about picking it up, so the whole nation can see the Vawls slaughter what will probably be a very overrated Memphis Tigers. 01-wingedeagle 01-wingedeagle

We've won every road game we've played this year, including wins over RPI #33 Cincinnati, RPI #44 Alabama and RPI #61 Providence.

Don't pay any attention to Captain T. He has orange on his brain and everyone knows brains are Blue and Gray.

UT's schedule was full of weak OOC teams and a pour excuse of a basketball conference (SEC). They all look like crap and slow.

So basically what you guys are saying is that you have yet to beat a tournament team on their home floor. There's no shame in that.

Cincinnati may very well be in the tourney. Kentucky won't. Meaning we both may end up with one road win against a tourney team.

I know you guys haven't been dancing in a while, so let me let you in on a secret: all NCAA tournament games are played on a neutral court. Seeing as that is the criteria you seem to now be shifting to, we've beaten RPI #10 UCLA on a neutral court.

How many road losses does Tennessee have this year? Wins? You're 5-3 on road/neutral courts. We're 9-1, with the one loss coming to the RPI #1 team, Duke.

Let's talk about bad losses. How many bad losses do we have? Zero. Tennessee? One.
