While I think Scott went a little overboard with his comments to the paper, I found it interesting that many of our responses here start with "At first I thought it was awesome, but after reflecting on it, I realized that probably wasn't the best thing to say...." Well, don't you think the same rational probably applies to Scott? I mean, he was pressed for a quote by the media, spoke his heart, and then probably later realized he might have been better served to have toned it down some. I am not going to crucify Scott over this because I was another fan who at first thought "yeah, right on Scott!"....then later realized that to say that to the paper might not be wise.......we need to put ourselves in Scott's shoes for a second. If it were me, I'd probably be in the same mess because I would have felt like saying the same thing at the spur of the moment only to realize later it was a little too harsh. Just my 2 cents.

My comment had to do with this statement that I thought sounded like a whiney junior in high school:

"(Ole Miss fans) view themselves in their own minds as being so superior to us as a university and football program," says Scott Forman, a U of M graduate who is president of The Highland Hundred, the football team's booster club. "But deep down in their truest heart, they understand there is not much distance between these two programs."

I hope we kick the **** out of Ole Miss Saturday. I hope we go undefeated and win the Liberty Bowl. I hope Tommy West builds this program into a national contender and helps our AD work us into a better conference.

I just don't have a complex in my interactions with Ole Miss fans that represents the view in that statement.

If I was in his shoes I would have been prepared to handle a question from a reporter and give a answer that showed class. Maybe during his year as President the club needs to nominate someone with a bit more class and better judgement to handle all requests for interviews from the media. That was boneheaded and I have no dislike for the man and we have never had a runin. Maybe I like to handle myself with a bit more class than he does.

Also how would it make the Rebel Club or whatever OM's booster club look if theyhad their President dropping Tiger High and Memphis State crap around and calling ourconference ConFusa or something. It would make them look like a bunch af aholes. They may be aholes but don't open your mouth and end all doubt.

Mostly good feelings. On both sides, there are fans who hold grudges.

"(Ole Miss fans) view themselves in their own minds as being so superior to us as a university and football program," says Scott Forman, a U of M graduate who is president of The Highland Hundred, the football team's booster club. "But deep down in their truest heart, they understand there is not much distance between these two programs.

"As perennial SEC bottom-dwellers, if they don't have us to kick around, it scares them.

"The reason we hate them is they come in here with that holier than thou attitude."

Nice touch with the name here, giving the imaginary Ole Miss fan an extremely pompus sounding name makes it sound more authentic.

I love and agree with everything he said and for the record I wouldn't know this guy from btiger on the street if I passed him by. As for who said it and the timing, when is the right time and who is the right person to tell those a-holes what we really think about them?

Even though they sell more season tickets than we do, the number is inflated because they include student tickets in that total. I've confirmed that with several "MS insiders".

Not a huge deal, but worth noting. I wonder what the CA would do if we include student tickets in our number?

You're right, jeb. If everyone on this board actually knew him 100% would have a "hard on" for him. The guy's a jerk. Period.

I don't fully understand how you elected him HH prez, but I guess if I were dating one of the most influential booster's daughter it might help my chances, too.

Interesting observation. I suppose this is akin to their including the Jx, MS. med. student head count in their enrollment total....which they do. Delusion...deception...and mirrors....that's the U. of Mississippi.

Twice,

I thought that TFS was a jerk when he was on the other board.

I think he was way out of line making such a statement.

Those that defend his statement do so for various reasons.

Your statement is out of line, I wish you would edit it.
It seems like a personal attack to me.

what a chickenshit thing to say.

let us know when somebody you are okey-dokey with works hard enough to earn the HH presidency.

Just calling a spade a spade. I'm sure there are more than a few people who could corroborate my statement . . .

Scott might come across the wrong to some people but the guy does more for the university than probably any of you. That was a low blow Twice, it was uncalled for and classless.

This ain't my fight, but how is what TigerTwice said any different than what TFS said, except TT didn't get quoted in the freakin' newspaper.

You highland hundred/TFS apologists are further verifying what I always thought about that group. Don't expect me to sign up anytime soon.

wait a minute.

don't lump all of the HH into one group because there are one or two people on here who insist on defending an obvious lack of judgment.

you are being short-sighted and small minded if you judge an entire organization based upon the actions of a few.

You're right. And if you are a member, you should be doing everything in your power to ensure your president keeps his personal feelings to himself when talking to the media, if you truly care about your organization.
