Good news in football's revival-
The Board of Regents didn't have any objections (why would they?) on Monday.
It seems there will only be two things that could disrupt this.
A- The students vote it down. That won't happen.
B- They can't raise the funds.
That could happen, because a lot of the big donors pushed for the ending of football.
$15 million in a bad sports town is simply a LOT of money to raise. And when you can't even get the stands up for a soccer field . . . .

Well Pitt, we have heard that the football committee had big donors ready to give if football would be brought back. I guess we will find out if that was true.

"Big Donors" can mean a base.
The pharmacy school was $11 mil.
The bottom line, though, is that if it goes through they are going to get off scot free for killing X amount of scholarships, seven years of the program, X amount of jobs, and X amount of exposure- all while costing a TON more money.
There are ways they can spin this. For instance, let's say the Bucs make the NCAAs this year but play in the dreaded 16-17 game in Dayton.
They can cry "We need football to get into a better conference so this won't happen again!" Give us all your money!
The fact the Bucs really would be a middle of the road team in a Southern Conference is lost.
Paul Stanton went into that press conference and said he wouldn't raise student fees in 2003 because the tuition had been raised 77%. This makes no sense whatsoever- "I believe a 77% raise is acceptable- but a 78 or 79% increase will be too much to keep jobs, prestige, conference affiliation, scholarships, etc."
Now, he's raising the fees- just pinning them on the backs of students who are currently in middle school.
I'm all for football being brought back- but if you don't hold the people accountable to get rid of it accountable the project will be doomed to failure.
