It's a good thing that Ole Miss fans can live in the past, because the future of the program isn't looking any better than the present.
Rather than buy season tickets, maybe you all can work on getting some of the old seasons put on dvd and just watch those.
You call The Citadel a patsy when Auburn plays them, but you need them for your SOS when you play them. You also forgot to mention that your program was one of the patsies that Auburn rolled over last year. If a 4-7 team isn't a patsy, what is?
Maybe Coach O will keep with the strategy of losing as many as you can so you can screw your opponents in the polls. It worked for you all last year.
Ole Miss won't be good again until Eli has kids.
Now I understand the smack about the past two football season's, but how can you tell me we have a bad coach when he hasn't coached a game yet? In fact, I think Coach O has a lot of upside for Rebels to be positive about. To be a good college football coach I personally think it takes 5 things:
Discipline: Coach O fired two coaches in the first month who messed up and has kicked off two players before they saw the practice field. A friend of mine who is on the team told me that he runs a much tighter ship than Cut, so I don't want to hear about his past on this point. He obviously doesn't play around anymore.
Being able to recruit: Coach O recruited the classes that won back to back national titles and has his foot in the door with recruits all over the country that previously wouldn't have known where Oxford was.
Being able to motivate: Coach O's players at USC loved him, so did the fans, and all I hear to this point is that our players can't wait to compete for him. If nothing else, no one can say he won't be able to do this better than Cut.
Preparing your team for gameday: If his work ethic to this point is any indicator, then like before, if nothing else he'll do this better than Cut.
Coaching the X's and O's on gameday: No one knows at this point, so it's pointless arguing this until after Sept. 5. However, we do know he has solid assisstants around him and he spent his most recent years learning from Pete Carroll as his right hand man. That can't hurt.
My point is that while I don't know how he'll fare. The evidence suggests he's somebody for our rivals to be concerned about in the future. No flame here, just stating my opinion.
