Thus the reason the Ole Miss game costs $45 a ticket, and the rest cost a good $20-$30 less.
And only 2,000 tickets are sold for $5 at Kroger. Do you actually take comfort that that's "all" that's sold, for $5 a pop mind you, at Kroger, yet there's usually at least 20,000 empty seats for your home games? You don't find it embarrassing that ANY of your tickets are sold that cheaply at Kroger?
And as far as the Oxford activities go, once again, you have proven my point. Oxford is a small town that's at least 30 minutes from the nearest interstate. Yet, every home game, at least 58,000+ make the trip to Oxford, plus the thousands that remain in the grove during the game while your home stadium, on average, falls 17,000 short of that number.
Unless of course your point is that there are several things people would rather do in Memphis than watch a Memphis Tiger football game. On that note, I would agree with you, but does it make you feel better to slam your own football program?
Okay...Idiot...I'm going to respond to you for the last time since things have to be spelled out for you....
First, I was being sarcastic about Tennessee. We don't need them or you for ticket sales. In the past, we did. But not now. But for some unknown reason, we thrive on the rivalries with you guys. Maybe it's because we hate you guys so much. Which you don't make it hard to do.
Second, Ole Miss charged us $45 a ticket. What's wrong with us doing the same? Were you guys "squeezing" every dime out of our game, too?
Third, I think it is great that a corporate sponsor is willing to pay the ticket price and reduce the rate so families can afford a family outing together. So no, I don't find it embarrassing. I find it as a way that corporation is helping out a community.
Fourth, the city of Memphis and its surrounding areas are very diverse. I'm proud of that. Greater Memphis is made up of over 1.5 million people. These people have loyalties to all kinds of schools. I recognize that fact. And that's great! My point is that not everybody is a football fan. They want to do other things. And Memphis provides people that alternative. Oxford does not. But what is sad is that so many of your fans have nothing better to do than hang around in the grove, drunk....Now that is sad and I would hate to admit that....
I will readily admit that our football program's support is no where near to the support that Ole Miss is. But it is growing and as our program keeps succeeding and kicking your school's butt, I suspect that support for the Tigers will just continue to grow.
So now, will you please go away....
We charged Memphis fans $45 a ticket because that's also what we charged Vanderbilt, Arkansas State, Auburn, Tennessee, and MSU fans, as well as Ole Miss fans. That's how much all of our tickets cost.
And a corporation helping out the community? Well, there's something that happens in everyday life. Of course that's the reason for the $5 tickets. Tell me, will there be $5 tickets available for the Ole Miss game?
Yep, you're right. It is really sad that we sell out our stadium or be a little short of it, and still have people out in the Grove tailgating with friends and drinking. Truly, truly sad indeed. and great, Memphis is made up of 1.5 million people, and a little over 1/30th of the population can't make it to the game because there are better things to do?
And of course, your support will grow as you kick our butt. You've won two years in a row. Mazeltov. That's not exactly kicking our butt. Before 2003, it had been, what, 9, 10 years since your last win over us?
