That's it. Squeeze every penny you can out of this game, because after that, the only revenue coming in will be the $5 Kroger tickets.

Is it true that Memphis season tickets this year cost $75, with the Ole Miss tickets costing $45 a pop?

Take a picture, because with the exception of the actual bowl game, it'll be two years before the Liberty Bowl has even half the attendance it will have on Labor Day 2005.

The question is, with your season on the line again, can Memphis beat a team that actually has competent coaches this year?

Well since we had two games last year with 50,000 plus and neither one was Ole Miss, I would say you are an idiot.

Ole Miss sure as hell won't be a factor in THAT equation.

Now if you'd said a team with "a complete dumb***, mush-mouthed, shrek look-alike, assisted by and in charge of future felons, then yes Ole Miss would be the determining factor.

Competent coaches you say?

Must mean UT-Chatanooga.

:stupid:
Over 5 home games in 2004, Memphis averaged 41,175. However, since, according to you, Memphis did hit the 50,000+ mark twice (I’m guessing against Louisville and USM), then Memphis probably was hovering around the 30’s for a couple of those other games. Regardless, with that average per game attendance, that would leave over 20,000 empty seats in 62,000+ seat Liberty Bowl Stadium.

Ole Miss on the other hand averaged 58,373 over the course of 6 games, AND WE WENT 4-7 LAST YEAR. Hell, our attendance actually went up 2,000 per game after 2003. Keep in mind, those were not $75 season ticket packages that we were selling either. And the extra tickets were not sold off at Kroger for $5 a pop.

Even worse, Memphis is a heavily populated city, and could never get a sellout, while Oxford is a more rural location, and didn’t just outdraw Memphis, but blew you out of the water.

So, I say once again, squeeze every penny you can out of the Ole Miss game this year with the $45 tickets, special t-shirts made just for us, etc. Just make sure you spend the money wisely, because it'll be at least another two years before we save your atheltic department again.

We'll see who's laughing after Labor Day.

Truth be told, he's done a phenomenal job thus far. In a month on the job, he put together a pretty good staff (on paper), got our foot in the door on several prospects that had written Ole Miss off (and even signed a few of them), managed a top 30 recruiting class (that would've been much worse without him), has the fanbase energized and enthused again, etc.

We will be a much different, and I predict, much better team when we play Memphis than we have been the last 2 years.

Out of curiosity, how do you think Memphis will play having lost most of its o-line, some receivers, and Wimprine?

Well, I guess it is fortunate for us Tennessee will be coming to town next year for us to "squeeze" every dime out of. So I guess we won't need you guys next year....

Btw, Kroger only sells 2,000 of the $5 tickets to the games. So it's not like it is a whole lot more.

And what else is there to do in Oxford? Watch the grass grow?

Like I said, idiot! :stupid:

Thank you for proving my point. I did forget Tennessee still played Memphis, but of course, they don't have John Shafer as their AD who agreed to do home and homes instead of 2 or 3 for 1 deals and give Memphis the entire gate every time we play in Memphis.

Thus the reason the Ole Miss game costs $45 a ticket, and the rest cost a good $20-$30 less.

And only 2,000 tickets are sold for $5 at Kroger. Do you actually take comfort that that's "all" that's sold, for $5 a pop mind you, at Kroger, yet there's usually at least 20,000 empty seats for your home games? You don't find it embarrassing that ANY of your tickets are sold that cheaply at Kroger?

And as far as the Oxford activities go, once again, you have proven my point. Oxford is a small town that's at least 30 minutes from the nearest interstate. Yet, every home game, at least 58,000+ make the trip to Oxford, plus the thousands that remain in the grove during the game while your home stadium, on average, falls 17,000 short of that number.

Unless of course your point is that there are several things people would rather do in Memphis than watch a Memphis Tiger football game. On that note, I would agree with you, but does it make you feel better to slam your own football program?

Okay...Idiot...I'm going to respond to you for the last time since things have to be spelled out for you....

First, I was being sarcastic about Tennessee. We don't need them or you for ticket sales. In the past, we did. But not now. But for some unknown reason, we thrive on the rivalries with you guys. Maybe it's because we hate you guys so much. Which you don't make it hard to do.

Second, Ole Miss charged us $45 a ticket. What's wrong with us doing the same? Were you guys "squeezing" every dime out of our game, too?

Third, I think it is great that a corporate sponsor is willing to pay the ticket price and reduce the rate so families can afford a family outing together. So no, I don't find it embarrassing. I find it as a way that corporation is helping out a community.

Fourth, the city of Memphis and its surrounding areas are very diverse. I'm proud of that. Greater Memphis is made up of over 1.5 million people. These people have loyalties to all kinds of schools. I recognize that fact. And that's great! My point is that not everybody is a football fan. They want to do other things. And Memphis provides people that alternative. Oxford does not. But what is sad is that so many of your fans have nothing better to do than hang around in the grove, drunk....Now that is sad and I would hate to admit that....

I will readily admit that our football program's support is no where near to the support that Ole Miss is. But it is growing and as our program keeps succeeding and kicking your school's butt, I suspect that support for the Tigers will just continue to grow.

So now, will you please go away....

Congrats on your recent ticket sales explosion. You can thank Eli and that coach you ran off for the support. I give coach 0-1 less than 5 years to have you back at about 25 -30,000 season tickets a year. I figure by then we will be near or over that number. When you take into consideration all the factors and add in a BC$ check and $ec TV money you have been getting it really is not that much to brag about. Hell, South Carolina sells a lot of tickets and I believe they still need a road map to Atlanta.

We charged Memphis fans $45 a ticket because that's also what we charged Vanderbilt, Arkansas State, Auburn, Tennessee, and MSU fans, as well as Ole Miss fans. That's how much all of our tickets cost.

And a corporation helping out the community? Well, there's something that happens in everyday life. Of course that's the reason for the $5 tickets. Tell me, will there be $5 tickets available for the Ole Miss game?

Yep, you're right. It is really sad that we sell out our stadium or be a little short of it, and still have people out in the Grove tailgating with friends and drinking. Truly, truly sad indeed. and great, Memphis is made up of 1.5 million people, and a little over 1/30th of the population can't make it to the game because there are better things to do?

And of course, your support will grow as you kick our butt. You've won two years in a row. Mazeltov. That's not exactly kicking our butt. Before 2003, it had been, what, 9, 10 years since your last win over us?

Actually, they will all be gone by Sept. 6th.

But it can't be too soon.

I hate to say it but I can stand Tennessee and Louisville fans more than Webel fans. They live in a fantasy world all of their own....

What's funny is, after Eli, our average attendance jumped by 2,000 spectators per game.

In less than 5 years, Memphis will be near r over 25-30,000 season tickets a year? I will spend the $75 season tickets cost 5 years from now if Memphis actually reaches that number. I will actually buy season tickets to Memphis football and contribute to the athletic department if that happens.

And of course, in your eyes, Orgeron will suck. Be sure to keep thinking that way. I dn't know anymore about how he'll do than you do, but I haven't felt this confident in our football teamfor at least a few years, and I think he'll do a great job in the long run.
