WKU needs to go I-A and the SBC needs WKU to get to 9 members, which works MUCH better for scheduling.

Not to mention that we will build rivalries instantly.

Western's all-time record against Middle Tenn is 27-28-1. It'd be nice to put that one back in the win column. That will be an instant rivalry and will pack either stadium. I can't wait.

the conference would be set up perfectly.

(the wac needs denver to balance the basketball schedule, too)

asu
ualr - no football
unt
ulm
ull
uno - no football

mtsu
wku
troy
usa - no football
fau
fiu

travel partners set up perfectly, with ulm-unt and wku-mtsu being the only non instate travel partners. but even those schools arent far from each other.

move denver and get wku up for football and then focus on growing the rivalries and building the programs.

Maybe not perfectly, but better.

I still would like a 12 team championship conference. Does a championship game have to played on a neutral site? Could you let the team with the better record host the championship game? Then the tie breakers could be 1rst: head to head... 2nd: divisional record... 3rd: attendance.

Sun Belt isn't ready for a championship game. Right now, the SBC barely has one bowl eligible team. Put that team against another team that is barely bowl eligible and one of them has to lose which could hurt another team from getting a bowl invite.

It also wouldn't make enough money to be profitable.

A larger conference, with 12 FB playing members would mean more conf. games, more home games, less 'revenue' games, and more teams with winning records. I'm not sure there's any need to rush expansion beyond wku, at this time. We all just need to concentrate on improving. Adding more 1aa teams than just wku moving up just prevents the conference as a whole getting stronger quicker, IMO.

12 is the way to go...I think it'd be a great way to gain this conference a little respect.

Problem is, most SBC's need the revenue games to make ends meet.

You'd still have plenty of space in the schedule to get the cash game. 5 division games plus 3 non-division conference games. That leaves each team with 4 games. You could get in as much as 3 money games and still play a IAA to get to bowl eligibility. 12 makes sense.

If you assigned home field advantage to one team or the other they would make a lot of money. Is that legal?

Bottom line, if the top Sunbelt teams can't beat OOC teams then give them more Sunbelt teams to beat. The top teams would be percieved as stronger whether they were or not. And better records would lead to better attendance, revenue etc.

Just a thought. I could be wrong.
