Does anyone know what's in this financially for EMU? Does ESPN pay $$$ to broadcast these games?

ESPN does not pay MAC schools individually based on appearances. Instead, the MAC has a set contract with ESPN for MAC Football and Basketball. In this contract, it stipulates a minimum amount of MAC football and basketball appearances. The contract should end in 2008, although it has been rumored that when UCF and Marshall left the contract was revised and extended another year or two. For the MAC's sake i hope that is not true. Next time the contract is up, we need to stipulate that the MAC will only play weekday games on ESPN and ESPN2, not on ESPNU. Also, we need to demand more money.

Quote:The MAC's new television deal with ESPN, football and basketball combined, is reportedly worth $3 million over five years

Breakdown:

MAC makes $600,000/year
Each MAC school makes $50,000/year
After 5 years, each MAC school makes $250,000 total

most posts on ESPN are either not true, worthless, fiction or dreaming or all of the above.

ESPN contract provides EXPOSURE to the MAC and little $.

Right now with only 4 football games on ESPN2 and little-to-no basketball games on ESPN, i would say our exposure is very limited.

hate to sound like a naysayer but
ESPN is going with the product and market.

MAC FB and men's hoops haven't been really good in a while.

Like when was the last top 40 team in each football or men's hoop?

Not to mention a top 25 team... 05-stirthepot
