A running back for the University of Toledo Rockets has been charged with recruiting fellow athletes to shave points and fix games on behalf of a Macomb County gambler.

While this is infuriating to me, it comes as no surprise what-so-ever.

Time to clean house and throw out the :irate: trash.

This makes me almost physically ill.

wow guys im really sorry as much as I hate toledo, this story makes me sick also, its going to take a long time to recover from something like this if its true.

I hope Amstutz is holding a serious talk with his team today, looking for answers to who's involved and to what extent, taking appropriate action immediately. If proven true, these allegations are destructive to the entire athletic departmen. Even if not proven, they cast doubt on the integrity of every athlete there.

Great....just great. This really hurts our program. This is just terrible news.

Scooter has barely played in the last 2 years which means he was more or less a middle man. Who else was involved in this.........I want to know!

Whoever was involved or even knew about it should be off the team immediately...I don't care who they are!

This is a sad day in Rockets history - all it takes is stupid mistakes to blow our progress. Don't want a bad image......

Well... we never could quite figure out why Scooter was still hanging around, now it appears quite obvious.

Sad that no one (as far as we know at this point), ratted him out.

This is going to be a huge black eye for Toledo, my gut is telling me this is only the tip of a very big iceberg....

I DON'T hate Toledo and I sincerely hope your athletics programs don't suffer long-term damage from this.

I hate to say it, but I think you are correct.

all that the program has done to get recognition and become a name could come crashing down because of some idiots. I hope they throw anyone that had any kind of involvement/knowledge of this off the team, out of school or in jail.

i had to check the calendar because it has to be april 1, right? this is horrible news for every aspect of the program. i am so angry i can barely type.

Wasn't there a post a while back on the main MAC board that referenced an article pointing out strange betting patterns for Toledo games? I remember reading it and thinking that it made some sense...

I'm in total shock. Scooter has set this porgram back for many years to come. You think that we are ever going to have a chance to move on to bigger and better thing? Forget that...Scooter and his band of a'hols just screwed the pooch for everyone. Dumb MF'ers

Guys, there is going to be some serious fall out from this. I wouldn't be surprised to see Stutz and the AD take the fall as well, depending on how deep this goes. UNF'ing believable.

Toledo fans -

I also feel ill and just terrible about this. An institution and team as fine as Toledo does not need or deserve this. Take comfort in the fact that it involves an individual or individuals and NOT the institution. Those individuals should be swiftly and severely dealt with if and when guilt is determined by the law. I'm sure that your administration is preparing its defense, and I hope any sanctions against Toledo are minimal. Your team, coach, administration, and athletics department are exemplary and a credit to the MAC, and I hope that the NCAA considers all this when the dust settles. Let's all keep our fingers crossed. My thoughts and best wishes are with you all.
