Best EMU Hoops Newcomer?
Okay, we've had alot of newcomers on our men's hoops teams this year. Which newcomer or newcomers have impressed you the most (and why)?
This may be a bit premature, but I thought well we have alot of knowledgeable hoops fans here so I thought it make a good discussion.

Best Newcomer
Boedry in my opinion. He is an `18 year old freshman and will be a fixture in the MAC in years to come, only lacks consistency as a frosh. 6'6 and 220, strong and good all around. Very confident individual.

Bunkley would be a clsoe second because of his shooting ability.

Dobbins and Dumas need to astep up! Dumas's FG % has been terrible, misses a lot of open shots - lets hope he gets out of his shooting funk!

Axon is a big surprise as a walk-on

interesting that hoops recruiting is easier to predict
I'm sure Dennis that last spring you liked Bowdry best and then Dumes and Bunkley and Dobbins in that order.

Bowdry came on big during his senior year and was destined for a very good college career.

Dumes was thought to be ready as a frosh.

Bunkley was considered a JUCO who could play from day one.

Dobbins was known to be a player who needed time to develop.

I love Bowdry. He plays strong and hard at all times while he is on the floor. I think all of the mistakes he makes are the result of being young, and hopefully Ramsey will help him on the turnovers (especially getting blocked).

Bunkley has been great as soon as he started going to the basket to go along with shooting threes. It's also great to hear Rams yell "Jesse!!" 30 times a game.

Dobbins and Dumes show promise. It seems to me that Dobbins needs to play with more intensity. With Dumes, it seems like he needs time to get acclimated to Div I basketball.

I think the most surprising is Axon. He was some walk-on with goofy hair and i didn't hear his name once until the media guide came out, and he has been an excellent back-up and fill-in for Medlock. His decision making is sound and he only takes good shots.

As for improved players, i would have to go with Travis Lewis. His leadership is obvious on this team. His defense is the best i've seen at this level (although i'm pretty biased). It's going to be very nice to see him as a captain next year.

I would say the two most pleasant surprises have been Bunkley-I wonder how many Div I offers he got and Axon.

Dumes will need time and so will Dobbins but I see good things down the road for both if they continue to work hard. Actually Dobbins pre-season his senior year was the only one mentioned in national publication recruiting guides. At least they are both in the rotation and getting PT times.

I would agree that Bowdry seems to have the most upward potential.

A newcomer that got playing time early in the season was redshirt Kyle Dodd. I think the jury is still out on him but he also has time to develop a role on this team.
