They need to cater to the middle class, white voters. A solid leader needs to be represented; European heritage, hard worker, intelligent, and who has military experience. A medal of honor will be the icing on the cake.

Enough of the pink pansy Democrats and civil rights activists. They can all get off of their butts and go to work because America is losing out in the global commerce war. They've had enough of the free ride and someone has to payoff on the balance of the debt/budget.

Republicans will counter heavily in the next presidential election. I suspect a Napoleonic strategy.

Slim chance to have a Centrist - Populist party, but definitely would be a winner if it could be assembled.

I would bet a sizeable amount of $ that a Dem will be elected in 08. Primaries are only 1 year off, US Army still in Iraq, Dumya pushing for a troop surge that has a slim chance of working. If American troops are in Iraq by primaries or later Repubs have almost no chance. McCain shot his leg off by coming out in favor of sending in more troops.

Also 35 Repub's got fired in the last election (7 Senate, 28 House), if American Troops are still in Iraq by election time (which is only 1 yr 9 mo off) the Repub's will suffer similar if not greater losses. 21 of the 33 Senators up for reelection in 08 are Republicans and any of those who support this troop surge are signing their political death warrant, especially those outside the deep South like Gordon Smith (OR) Norm Coleman(MN) and Voinivich (OH).

If the Dem's gain 9 Senate seats(which at this point is possible) they will have a fillibuster proof majority in the Senate, likely an increased majority in the House and a Dem in the White House. It will be interesting to see what the Dems do with that power if they achieve it, will they have learned their lessons from getting tossed out in 1994?

I wonder if putting Democrats in control of government won't help the WOT, as Democrats will be forced to address terrorism and rouge states, instead of just sniping from the back bench. Politics should stop at the water's edge, and I would hope any Democratic administration's strong support for the war on terror would be happily supported by Republicans. But I know better.
