hey the new board looks great, i stopped posting on the old tribalgrounds one but this new gts board has got me excited....anways i was wondering what FIU and FAU have to offer? Enrollment? Stadium size? attendance? uniforms? and also how are the non-football sports? i know FIU's mens basketball isnt great but they are competitive in everything else. Im absolutely clueless about Florida Atlantic.....Do owls even live on the Florida coast? wouldnt Seagulls be more appropiate?

Great questions, that is one of the great things about forums. I am not the best person to answer those questions, I know for certain we have a couple of FAU fans registered here and at least one FIU fan. Hopefully more will come over, I am sure one of these guys can tell us the answers.

Hey BigDaddy 04-cheers

Will see you on the gridiron on 9/11 and will try to make the trip.
As far as Owls in Florida, we actually have Burrowing Owls on
campus (part of a Natural Preserve). They are an endangered
species and are always causing delay whenever the school expand.
This will be an issue when we get ready to built our football stadium
on campus, hopefully ready by 2007. Enrollment is 25,000+ with
5 different campuses, the main one being in Boca, FL, we are
a commuter school. We currently play at Lockhart stadium which
has a capacity of about 20,000+.

We have a softball team that has won the A-Sun title the past five
years, our baseball team is currently rank #19 nationally. We
lost to Georgia Tech. at the Super Regional in 2002 and in 2003
we lost to Miami 1-0 in the second game of the regional, then lost
to Florida in an elimination game (Beat Florida in game one).
In 2004 the road to Omaha has started, they are currently 7-0.

Our basketball team went to the Big Dance in 2002, losing
to Alabama in the first round of the NCAA tourny, since then
they s**k. 03-confused Our other teams are fairly competive.

Team colors, Red, White & Blue (uniforms, similar to Auburn).

Bytor really said it all. May I add one correction about the softball team.
They are going for their 8th straight title this year!! Them gals are good! 03-wink

I will say that the baseball and softball teams will carry our torch in the Sun Belt for awhile. The football team may need a year or so to get up to speed. I didn't say until we win. But to remain in the upper brackets of the conference consistantly.
You can never tell with Coach Schnell. After all we were the fastest start-up team to make it to the playoffs. in 3 years uninterupted playing.
Looking forward to a great challenge in the SunBelt.

FAU doesn't belong in the A-Sun no more than UCF. We definitely don't fit their small, private school profile. Glad to see ya'll moving on. I for one will be very interested in how ya'll will perform in the SBC. Perhaps we'll continue to schedule the Owls in OOC competition. The Blue Wave is certainly welcome on our schedule.

Go Knights!!!

I think you can find all but the uniforms here. I hope it helps.

Here is a link to the football site. It has recent stories and archives too. Hopefully this will address some of your questions about FAU.

Look in the left column and find The Tom Oxley Center. Open it up. Click on the "tour" link.
Take the tour and it will show the amazing recruiting tool that FAU has for the recruits.

Post reply if you need anything else.

Looks like the move to 1-A has helped in the recruiting, I'm sure they will help immediately. Nice website too.
