North Texas

@Texas- I like our chances in this game more so then last year vs OU, but this is still one of the top 10 teams every year. UNT cant compete but i think Cobbs could have a 100+ yard game. UT's offense will explode on our weakend defense.

UT 37 UNT 18

@Colorado- With all the drama surrounding the CU program right now i wouldnt be suprised if NT could sneak one past the Buffs. They were down last year and should be worse this year. We play in Boulder but i dont think it will be a factor if we can run the ball and control the clock. Once again i think Cobbs will be the key. It could go either way but i will give the push for NT.

UNT 31 CU 27

@ Baylor- Last years punishing could get worse this year. We scored 52 with our offense last year! Baylor may be improved and playing us at home but i think their is still too great of a margin between the two teams. Scott Hall and J Quinn should light up the Baylor secondary. i will make the trip down I-35 this year to waco so ill be sure to see if im right

UNT 48 BU 21

I look for 2 OOC wins this year...its a shame we only had 3 OOC games this year, but with the crappy scheduling we will still be playing USU and NMSU without a shot at TSU. Goodluck to everyone in their OOC games this year. They are a key in building program prestige

I think the CU game will be a great game for ya'll. I think ya'll can steal this one and have some quality wins against some good programs.

I won't make any predictions other than to say I think we can have a winning record in OOC play this year. We play

Northwestern State (1-AA)
at Louisiana Tech (our oldest rival)
at Kansas State

Louisiana Tech is a designated SBC game as is Florida International (we play them in Miami) but I did not include them in this since they are a SBC team.

Our schedule is still not 100% set in stone but it looks like we'll have 4 OOC games this year (not including Florida Atlantic at home). This also means we are going to have to designate one of them as a conference game. Here we go:

@ Marshall: We beat them last year in Troy. Good news is it's the first game of the year so we have all Spring and Summer to prepare and should be injury free. Bad news is so do they and they'll be mad. Still, it's winnable but playing up there is going to be tough. They brought down MAC officials to our place last year and they were as biased as any we've ever played against (except Big 12 officials).

Mizzou in Troy: I was at our Marshall game last year. I saw first hand what a packed stadium full of crazy Trojan fans can do. If we can re-create that atmosphere and contain Brad Smith, then we have a chance.

@South Carolina: They should be better than they were last year, but a lot of Trojan fans think this might be the one we "steal".

@LSU: The tigers won't be the team that won the national championship, but they will still be good. Plus, playing at night in Baton Rouge is tough on any team. Even I will admit that a win for us here would be a miracle.

I've seen our team in these "body bag" games. It seems that we play really hard and tough and maybe even get an early lead (we lead K-State last year for a little bit). But then, something goes wrong. A turnover, a bad call by the officials, special teams failure (blocked @#$#@ punt!) and then the big boys follow it up with a big play. You can literally see our guys shoulders slump and the "here we go again, just another paycheck" mentallity creeps in. Against Nebraska, we were only down 10-0 in midway in the 3rd quarter. We scored, but the TD was called back on offensive pass interference. A busted play and two more penalties later, we have to punt and then they throw a 70 yard bomb and break the game open. Even the Nebraska announcers said it looked like our guys were hanging thier heads after the TD was called back. Don't get me wrong, they still play hard. Virginia was ahead of us 24-0 after the first half, but we never let them close to the end zone in the second half. That's my biggest beef with all the body bag games, the guys DO start to believe they aren't supposed to win. I bet A LOT of ya'll have similar feelings and similar stories when playing the big teams.

So, back to the original thought... how many will we win? We will get one, for sure. Whether it's Marshall again, Mizzou, or South Carolina. We need to get more consistant QB play and establish some sort of passing game. Also, NO SPECIAL TEAMS FAILURES. If we can do that, then I think we could get two. 2-2 would be very respectful. If the Mizzou game is close going into the 4th quarter, then we will take it. So, the realistic part of me says 1-3. The optimistic part says 2-2. The fan part of me says 3-1. The dreamer says 4-0!

So I'll say 2-2 with a slight lean towards 3-1. (cross fingers)

Our schedule next year will give us a great opportunity for a winning season. I think that will help us greatly in recruiting which will make our team stronger.

As bad as I hate to say it...ASU is in for a tough season:

@Missouri...they are much improved over the Tigers of old and although I think we will hang with them...I think they will pull away in the 4th Qtr. We will make it a game most of the way like we did at Texas A&M last year.

Missouri 24 ASU 10

Memphis at Home...Memphis is better than they have been in recent years and have a lot of momentum after their NO Bowl win. They have a really good QB and RB. Depending on how we do the week before at ULM we may give Memphis a game...I expect a big crowd and a tight game.

Memphis 31 ASU 28

@ Oklahoma...duh.

OU 42 ASU 10

@Ole Miss...we used to play Ole Miss tough but lately they have blown us out. However, Eli is gone so it should be closer.

Miss 28 ASU 17

I'm not sure any of these games will be a win but you never know...I'm hoping ASU suprises me...I think we are still one recruiting class & a decent schedule away from being a consistant winner.

I would lkie to agree with my fellow mean greeners but I think that baylor and CU will be tough tough games this year. I sould count CU as a loss but for the turmoil that they are in so I am cautiosly optimistic about that one. and I think that we may be a little over confident about baylor, but still like our chances. Texas is not realistic, they are the class team of the best conference in the NCAA, alongside OU. but we do have a shot at a one loss season with two wins over big 12 schools. you may say Im a dreamer, but Im not the only one. :stupid: I just like this Icon

Beat LaTech. Time to send them towards the Southland for good.

NT loses a closer than normal game to Texas, wins out.
