Form the Sun Belt Mean Green Board: This makes me a little worried as a FAU Alum.

Troy State Fan Says:

I was happy that our 1A Football Team has a home now.
But If you look around you can see that the SBC's most sucessful Football team is UNT and the most sucessful Basketball team is Western Kentucky. And guess what both of these teams want out of the SBC. Check all of the message boards: UNT wants CUSA maybe WAC
and WKU wants Atlantic 10 or if they upgrade Football CUSA or MAC. I thought the Atlantic Sun was just a home until you found a better one. Looks like the Sun Belt is the same.

I wouldn't worry about it...Even if they leave, the Sunbelt will survive. There is room for more competition in the NCAA at the 1A level and bigger teams need opening and homecoming games.

Western won't get into A-10. After the banner year the A-10 just had, why would they want a mediocre SBC team? Really. There FANS may want it, but does the A-10 want them? I don't think so.

As for UNT, they would definitely fit into CUSA. However, they can only offer football as their top sport. CUSA just lost Cincy, Louisville, and Marquette to the BE. All 3 were top basketball teams. UNT won't be able to fill the void in basketball that those 3 teams created. But as we all know, football drives everything.

The A-10 just added UNC-Charlotte and St. Louis from C-USA, bringing their membership total to 14. I don't see any reason for further expansion, unless they were to jettison some of the dead weight, but that won't happen.

at this point I think the only team that may leave is UNT and IMO those chances are slim but who knows.

A CUSA invite is the only reason North Texas would leave. If that doesn't happen, we'll continue working with the other Sun Belt members to make the conference stronger.
