I may be a little biased, but I have seen over the past few weeks a vast improvement in the pitching of Jared Salazar. On Sunday, he went 7 2/3 innings, giving up only 1 run. He has made the most of his past Sunday starts, since we were unable to win the Sunday games against MT and WKU.

Salazar and Schambough are good pitchers that will help contribute to this pitching staff.

I voted for Ian Because I just like his style of pitching. I mean, hes not the most technically sound pitcher we have, but every time I see him come into the game, I see him pitch with everything he has and I dont think any sort of technique can make up for heart.

Looks like Brent Sanders is the best pitcher based on this poll besides Kevin Ardoin. I think each pitcher have their good qualities which make them each good at something different. Which makes a team see something different from each pitcher each and every night.

I dont know, I like brant, but Im not sure how I like him more. I do likt how he pitches in a starting role, but I think iit would be nice to have 2 guys be able to come out of the bullpen and shut someone down in relief, I dont know. I pose this question for the brant sandars voters, who would you let him replace in the weekend rotation.

I voted for Sanders but if Salazar continues to pitch well I would like to see Kevin, Ian and Jared be the weekend starters with Craig and Brant coming out of the bullpen. Would like to see Kohrs get another shot at being the mid-week starter.

Unfortunatly, I think kohrs has dug himself into a pretty deep hole with coach, he hasent appeared in a game since. I think we may see Kohrs sometime this week whether it is against tulane or this weekend against FIU.

With all due respect to those guys, none of them should be starters. None of them were going to be until injuries and a suspension screwed things up.
We just don't have the pitching to make it out of a regional this year.

Really? Seems that Schambough was penciled in as a weekend starter from day one, don't know which injuries you're referring to except for maybe Faught and who was expected to redshirt from surgery in the offseason, or Martinez who was still working to return to form from major surgery... and as for the suspension.....Mayfield never showed that he had the stuff on or off the field. As for Pecoraro, Morgan, Salazar, and Sanders....Check the stats versus the rest of the conference...I think you'll find that we have a good chance of getting out of a regional...Screwed up? Not even close.

Checking the stats (as of 4/22/04), we are #2 in conference in both team batting (.312 batting avg) and pitching (4.13 era) and #1 in team fielding (.975 %). In individual stats we have only 1 batter in the conference top 10 (Dallas Morris #5) and 2 pitchers in the top 10 (Ardoin #1 and Sanders #6). Morris is 4th in conference in RBI's with 45. He is also tied for 1st in triples with 4 (Josh Landry is in a tie for 2nd place with 3). Morris is 5th in conference with 12 home runs. John Coker is in 2nd place in steals (14-17). Sounds to me like we are have a good season all around and oh yeah, we are in 1st place too

I stand by my opinion.
We will not make it out of a regional this year due to pitching.
If either Faught or Martinez were healthy, they would be starters.
We may be the best in the conference. That doesn't change my mind.

Fair enough....the only way to see what happens is to wait and see what happens. We must first get into a regional before pitching can cause us to not make it out of the regional. However, if in fact we do get bounced, I'll wager that there will be tons of guys left on base, strikeouts in critical situations, at least one or two errors, and maybe even some bad baserunning that will contribute to our demise. After all it is a team sport.
I, for one, choose to give our hurlers the benefit of the doubt before writing them out of a regional. Here is another thought......maybe our excellent hitting will make up for our so-called lack of pitching, our exceptional fielding skills will keep us in a tight game, our speed will move runners into scoring position to plate the winning run....and how about this far-fetched notion... WE MIGHT EVEN WIN!
Let's agree to disagree...ain't this fun?

I think our pitching is very solid but unlike in past years, we only have 1 really dominant starter. Cajun fans are accustomed to winning with great pitching. This is the first time in a very long time that we can win by out hitting someone. Its a strange feeling for those who have followed the cajuns for a while.
Salazar is really starting to look good. He gets my vote.

Hey, some said we didn't have the pitching to make it out of the 1999 regional, but moved on to play Rice in the Super Regionals. It seems pitching gets the bad name if we don't win. Sometimes its true, but its not always true.
