Jeanerette's Derek Gray will be a Cajun this fall 04-cheers rumor has it he will not be eligible but he is a very good scorer (28 points per game last season) and hopefully he will be a big time contributer to the program in the future.

Gray's highlights seem to be oustanding but he will probrably have to struggle in college to make his grades.

Thanks again for the information. I hope that we can get or sign three more good recruits.

Cajuns Sign Jeanerette High's Gray to National Letter of Intent

Wednesday, April 14, 2004

LAFAYETTE-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns men’s basketball team signed Jeanerette High School guard Derek Gray to a National Letter of Intent Wednesday.

Gray led the Tigers with 28.6 points per game as a senior en route to first team All-State honors in Class 2A. The Tigers advanced to the Class 2A state finals, but were ousted by University High.

As a senior, Gray was also named the Sunkist Shootout MVP. Gray was an all-district selection during his junior and senior seasons. Gray garnered second team All-State honors as a junior.

Gray chose Louisiana over Southern Mississippi, Louisiana State, and New Orleans.

Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns (20-9) won the Sun Belt Conference regular season and tournament championships during the 2003-04 season. As a No. 14 seed in the NCAA Tournament, UL lost 61-52 to No. 3 seed North Carolina State in Orlando, Fla.

This is great but we need players that can play now. I hope we sign some good players that can help out this year, b/c we might need them.

I read on the Delphi board that Gray has his core (high school grades) and is only 1 point shy on his ACT which he may have already retaken. We canl only hope for the best.
