Some of us have been concerned about the "type" players (classroom and off court behavior problems of the past) recruited here in recent years. I found this current article on OSU Coach Eddie Sutton and thought some of you may be interested as it may be an indication of his (Coach Cyprien's) approach to recruiting.
Quote:Former Sutton assistant Glynn Cyprien, now the head coach at Louisiana-Lafayette, said his former boss tests a recruit's character from the recruits' first visit on campus. Sutton tells the recruit in simple terms that he won't allow bad kids to be in his program. What may have happened or not in the past is the past, but he doesn't stand for any poor behavior once in Stillwater.
"And after they leave (campus), he'll ask the returning players if he would fit in," Cyprien said. "The players would say if he drinks or gets high, or he's not a good fit or arrogant. There have been times they have said these things and we haven't taken the kids."
