The Sun Belt football schedule has some interesting matchups in 2004. As the youthful conference grows up a bit, so, too, does the talent continue to increase.

September 4 -- North Texas at Texas
Hey, Buster Douglas beat Mike Tyson ... Smarty Jones lost ... so can North Texas beat Texas? While it's doubtful, but this is a good test to see how QB Scott Hall and RB Patrick Cobbs measure up against the big boys.

Sept. 18 - Troy State at New Mexico State
The two likely contenders to unseat North Texas from their perch on top of the Sun Belt. The winner of this has the inside track to make a run at the conference title.

Oct. 23 - New Mexico State at North Texas
Tony Samuel is on the hot seat and needs a good season. A win against perenniel Sun Belt power North Texas would be a huge help.

November 6 -- North Texas at Louisiana-Lafayette
North Texas has owned the Sun Belt, winning the league in each of the first three years, but Louisiana-Lafayette may be the team to end that reign. This could be the matchup to decide who goes to the New Orleans Bowl against the C-USA representative.
