North Texas is the undisputed king of the hill, but the rest of the pack seems to be making up ground.

I predicted that North Texas will be ULM's only conference lose.
But, I don't think it will be by anywhere close to 30 pts.

The last time ULM visited Denton (2002) the score was 41-2

Close games at Monroe, 2 point seperation in last two game, but at Fouts a different story.

<span style='font-family:Times'><span style='font-size:12pt;line-height:100%'><span style='color:blue'>Well, I hope he's full of crap because he certainly does not realize how good the rest of the Sun Belt is.

And what does this say about Middle Tennessee or the Sun Belt for that matter if the Blue Raiders finish with a 6-5 record--third best in the conference--with zero wins against non-conference opponents with a schedule ranked 113th out of 117?

I'd like to think the Sun Belt was better than that.

I believe the non-conference wins will come this year and six Sun Belt teams will finish with winning records:

1. Troy (9-2)
2. Middle Tennessee (9-2)
3. North Texas (8-3)
4. Louisiana-Monroe (6-5)
5. Utah State (6-5)
6. Louisiana-Lafayette (6-5)

And both future Sun Belt members, Florida Atlantic and Florida International, will also have winning records at 7-4 and 6-5 respectively.

So I think I'd rather be right and Mr. Marsee be wrong! :D </span></span></span>

<span style='font-family:Times'><span style='font-size:12pt;line-height:100%'><span style='color:blue'>Well, sure. We aren't playing the injury games that cripple non-Power $ix conference schools before they reach conference play.

I think we will beat UNT in Denton because I think we will be far more healthier than the Mean Green come Week 5.

You figure we only play Florida from the Power $ix. Compare that to last season that saw us at Georgia, Clemson, and Missouri, or 2002 when the Blue Raiders started at Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

This year North Texas starts off with Texas, Colorado, and Baylor on the road with a home game against Florida Atlantic wedged in there. Now granted, Baylor sucks and would probably lose to over half of the Sun Belt teams, but still. Ya'll will play alot of your starters for that game to make sure you win increasing the chances of still losing key players.

Yeah, I know we would probably lose if UNT was at 100%, but that's college football and that's one factor you must always use when making predictions. Will "X" team be healthy enough to beat "Y" team?

UNT has always played a stiff OC schedule. We'll have plenty of talent & fire power available when the Muts come to town

Don't agree with your pick for 1st place :D but if as a conference our team with the worst record is 4-7, it will be a huge improvement over the past few seasons. We all MUST win our OOC games. Games I will be pulling for other Sun Belt teams:

09/04 FAU at Hawaii
09/25 FAU vs Illinois State (1-AA)
10/09 FAU at Texas State (1-AA)
10/16 FAU at Northern Colorado (1-AA)
10/30 FAU at Florida A&M (1-AA)

09/02 FIU vs Jacksonville (1-AA)
09/11 FIU at Youngstown State (1-AA)
10/09 FIU at Stephen F. Austin (1-AA)
10/23 FIU vs McNeese State (1-AA)
11/13 FIU vs Georgia Southern (1-AA)
11/27 FIU vs Florida A&M (1-AA)

09/04 Middle Tennessee at Florida
09/11 Middle Tennessee at Akron

09/04 Troy University at Marshall
09/11 Troy University vs Missouri
09/25 Troy University at South Carolina
10/23 Troy University at LSU

09/04 Arkansas State at Missouri
09/11 Arkansas State at LSU
09/18 Arkansas State vs Memphis
10/02 Arkansas State at Mississippi

09/04 UL Indians at Auburn
09/18 UL Indians vs Arkansas
10/02 UL Indians at Wyoming

09/04 North Texas at Texas
09/18 North Texas at Colorado
09/25 North Texas at Baylor

09/04 UL Ragin' Cajuns vs Northwestern State (1-AA)
09/11 UL Ragin' Cajuns at Louisiana Tech
09/18 UL Ragin' Cajuns at Kansas State

09/04 Idaho at Boise State
09/18 Idaho at Washington State
09/25 Idaho at Oregon
10/02 Idaho at Eastern Michigan

09/04 NMSU at Arkansas
09/11 NMSU at California
09/25 NMSU vs New Mexico
10/02 NMSU at UTEP

09/04 USU at Alabama
09/18 USU vs Utah
09/25 USU at UNLV
10/16 USU at Clemson

As you can see we will have our work cut out for us as we all face some very good teams.

IHMO, of the teams eligible to win the conference title, Middle Tennessee and the UL Ragin' Cajuns have the weakest non-conference schedule. That, in my opinion, should/will be to their (our) benefit during the season. Hopefully 03-wink

I agree; that will be a plus. ASU has the toughest non-conference schedule followed by Troy. This may be another long year for stAte fans. However, if Devin comes through for us. 04-cheers

<span style='font-family:Times'><span style='font-size:12pt;line-height:100%'><span style='color:gray'>New Mexico State also has a strong as heck schedule opening up with games at Arkansas and at California.

They open the conference slate up at Troy University and also must play at North Texas and at Utah State. They also have to play on the road at Florida Atlantic which will without a doubt prove to be much tougher game than that cakewalk contest they had last year against Division II Western New Mexico State.

And people wonder why I think this team will finish last in the Sun Belt. Last season they finished with a 3-9 record on a much easier schedule! Their spring workouts certainly don't sound promising. It makes me think their defense may even be more penetrable this year than last year! I'd say they'll finish 2-10 with their only wins over Florida International and Texas-El Paso.

And I'm sure that'll irritate the Aggie fans. Oh well, it's just my belief.

Tough schedule + faltering headcoach + average recruiting class + limited experience = horrible season

What separates the men from the boys is depth. We may get banged up against Texas and Colorado but North Texas has excellent depth that will take up the slack.

Hey 61, You'll have to forgive me, but anyone picking UNT over Colorado is just living in a dreamworld.

I'm not saying that you can't win, but on paper Colorado has to be at least a 10 point favorite going into that game.

Gotta love the preseason, eh?

Hey 61, You'll have to forgive me, but anyone picking UNT over Colorado is just living in a dreamworld.

I'm not saying that you can't win, but on paper Colorado has to be at least a 10 point favorite going into that game.

Gotta love the preseason, eh?
Wouldn't exactly count the Mean Green out of a contest with Colorado. Either way it should be a very close game.

I have to agree with you on those points. Losing their main assistant coach a couple seasons ago has really hurt them, and its not looking like a rebound is coming. On top of that, they have a totally un-favorable schedule, and lack of depth in the trenches. It will be a long season for them this year.
