Family ties and a good feeling about Louisiana-Monroe helped Troy Cherry make an early choice on his college destination.
Cherry, who plays receiver, free safety and kick returner at Sunset High School in the Dallas area, has made a verbal commitment to sign with ULM in football. Cherry is the nephew of former ULM tight end Mel Conway.
"I liked the school and my uncle played there," Cherry said. "I liked the campus and the facilities."
The 6-3, 188-pounder said Sunset has played two games so far. Last time out he said he made three catches and had a decent kickoff return.
