Louisiana-Monroe keeps making mistakes and Arkansas State keeps taking advantage of them.
Four ULM turnovers were a key to ASU’s 44-41 victory when the teams met last season at Little Rock. Saturday night in Monroe, ULM lost four more turnovers and ASU capitalized for a 28-21 victory in the Sun Belt Conference opener for both teams.
ASU (1-3, 1-0 Sun Belt) scored a touchdown off a ULM fumble for the second consecutive season, this time when senior cornerback Chris Jones pounced on a fumble in the end zone during the first quarter. ULM lost two more fumbles in the final two minutes of the game to squelch any comeback hopes.
