UL vs. Northwestern St. A game against a quality in state opponent, the Cajun D stopped two of the most explosive I-AA running backs and started off 2004 with a nice 14-7 at Cajun Field

UL at LA Tech. Ryan Moats for Tech ran wild against the Cajuns, but only scored 1 TD. Cajuns trailed 17-0, but rallied to take a 20-17 in the 3rd QT, only to come up 8 yards short as time expired, losing 24-20 to the bitter in-state rival.

UL at Kansas St. Heisman hopeful Darren Sproles had a huge game against the Cajuns. Running for over 200 yards, KSU jumped out to a huge lead, only to see the Cajuns crawl back to within 30-20 early in the 4th QT. Cajuns run out of gas and fall 40-20.

UL vs. MT. Cajuns return home and don't disappoint the fans. Cajuns and Raiders were tied at 14 at the half, but a balanced attack kept MT off-guard as a late interception sealed the win for the Cajuns 24-17.

UL at FIU. Cajuns move to over .500 on the season, taking a huge road win from future SBC member FIU 43-34. The game was sloppy, but the Cajun offense racked up lots of yards and points in holding off a strong FIU team.

UL at NMSU. Here is where things began to fall apart for the Cajuns. Finally getting over the schnide (sp?), Cajuns fall flat on their faces and lose to NMSU 35-32. The game began promising as the opening kickoff was returned for a TD, but turnovers and an inability to move the ball consistently cost the Cajuns a chance to move to 2 games over .500.

UL at Idaho. The Cajuns wanted to wish Idaho a farewell gift as the Vandals leave for the WAC next season, but the Cajuns couldn't hold off a relentless Vandal rushing attack. Just as the Cajuns did it to the Aggies (return the opening kickoff for a TD), the Vandals do it to the Cajuns. UL was never able to bounce back as the Vandals say goodbye to the Cajuns 38-25.

UL vs. Arkansas St. Cajuns return home from a 8800 mile road trip for homecoming against the Indians. Cajuns jump out to an early 17-0, but hold off a rally from the Indians to win their 6th straight home game 27-24.

UL vs. North Texas. The now 4-time defending SBC Champions came into Cajun Field expecting a stiff challenge in front of National TV audience on ESPN2. But the Cajuns dug themselves into an early 14-0 hole and just couldn't get out of it. Freshman Jamario Thomas runs for over 150 yards as the Mean Green end the Cajuns home winning streak with a final score of 27-17.

UL vs. Troy. Cajuns face yet another tough defense when Troy came to Cajun Field. For once, it was the Cajun D that played extremely well, but the offense struggled. The Cajuns marched right down the field on their first drive, only to have it end on a tipped pass that was intercepted by Troy in the endzone. Cajuns fall to Troy 13-10.

UL vs. ULM. The Cajuns and Indians had identical 4-6 records heading into the final game. Both were playing for bragging rights and respect. But in the end, it was a last second field goal that won it for Monroe. Cajun D played well again, but the offense struggled resulting in another 13-10 to close out the season.

Best play: Babb hits Sampy for a nice 45 yard TD pass against Arkansas St.
Best Hit: This one is easy. Stanley Smith rocks UNT RB Jamario Thomas.
Offensive MVP: Depsite the collapse at the end, the award goes to QB Jerry Babb.
Defensive MVP: For his leadership on the field and his great plays, C.C. Brown.

2004 wasn't what we hoped it would be, but it was still a blast. Remember, a couple of years ago, we were 1-10. Things could be worse! GEAUX CAJUNS!!
