Must have been an awesome game, congrads on the last second win. Nice to see those kinds of games in the Sun Belt adds to the excitement already there in basketball for this conference.

How WKU pulled this out, I don't know!
The game started down 2-24. UNT's lead expanded to 5-30. WKU's Danny Rumph, junior guard goes down hard and is out the rest of the game. At half the toppers get it down to seven points. In the 2nd half UNT expands the lead back up to 14 I believe. Courtney Lee, our awesome freshman guard fouls out. We're down two players in a very small bench anyway. We fight back to within six points under a minute. Antonio Haynes hits a three, then Ty Rogers, GAME TIED with 14 seconds. UNT scored 2 points, making it 90-92 UNT with 3.2 seconds. UNT decides not to guard the inbound (mistake), Topper gets the ball to a VERY HOT Anthony Winchester (36 points on the night) he takes a couple dribbles and from just inside the half court line throws up a shot, banks off the rim and IN for the WIN!!
Here is the WKU Radio broadcast of the shot:

we had a blast in a packed h.h. chatroom last night. 'beed can't believe how many optimists we have. figured many would bail during the first half but only a few did. like 'beed said in his call to hal last night. we couldn not have a better ambassador for hilltopper basketball that a-dub. he is becoming one of 'beeds all time favorite hilltoppers. he is a mack.

If Winchester had put up 36 on us, the Toppers would have won. The key to beating Western is too limit the production of AW.
Other than that, congrats on the win. Can y'all beat Denver again for us? :D

Actually he didn't score a great deal of points against Denver. The key to beating WKU is to take Elgrace out of the game and have big gaurds. ULL is the worst matchup for WKU. A center that can shoot the 3 and a big(and fast) PG. Pull Elgrace out of the lane and post up your guards. There ya go.

Winchester just had 8 points against Denver.
Western has some tough guards. WKU will have a guard that will light it up every night. Could be Winchester, could be Lee, or Haynes, or even Ty Rogers.
The key, like RODT said, is to pound us inside. We are weak in the paint. But that alone won't do it either. Denver's center scored 30 points on us, the same time Winchester only scored 8, but we still won.

I was mainly talking about AW putting up 36 against UNT. But your right, Elgrace is a great player. I don't want to face him again!
Cameron was just on fire that night we beat the Toppers. 4 of 6 from behind the arc was huge. He really hasn't hit that many since that game. Teams have started guarding him when he goes out.

It's because ULL and most schools bring their A-game against Western. I've seen it too many times. I am not saying that to be cocky or anything. But it does seem that teams really get excited to play Western Kentucky.
Our team should have gotten more excited about playing UL-Lafayette, maybe we would have won. The Cajun Dome is no friendly place to play though.

Man, it should have never even been close with the way the game started. I wish we could come up with some kind of killer instinct. These kinds of leads have been erased against us before, I just can't believe it happened again. It was a great shot (the play was terribly defended). Congrats Western Kentucky.
Still hurts.
