Ok, put all your bias aside and think about it! If you had a choice of just ONE school to represent the Sun Belt in the NCAA basketball tourney, who would it be? By this I mean, which school has the best chance of winning a game or two in the upcoming tourney? You can't name your own school as the one.
For me, I'd go with WKU. In a close second is UL.

University of Arkansas Little Rock, mainly for the fact that they have 7 seniors on that team, and basically they are all gonna want to end their careers in style. So you can bet they are hungry.
My second choice would be MTSU. They proved that they could compete with the likes of the big dogs, whether it be at their place or at a neutral site. This team can become a scary first round opponent of its own. Steve Thomas and Mike Dean are also mighty hungry after having the tourny stolen from them back in the 02-03 season under Jim Harrick. Those are also the only 2 that have had consistent numbers vs. every team they've played this year, including Villanova and Auburn.
Third Choice would be Denver. It would be nice to see what Yemi Nicholson could do against non-conference competition. Also I recently found out that Rodney Billups is Chauncey Billups younger brother. That is pretty interesting and that would definitely get some attention in the upcoming tourney.

I've had the chance to see most of the teams now. I can say with little reservation that UALR is #1. That's coming from a Topper fan. They have decent size, quickness, 3 point shooters, and play half court physical D.
A DISTANT #2 would be MTSU and Denver. They both have talent on the inside and out.
An even more distant #3 would be ULL and WKU. Neither play great D. Neither have great size or GREAT speed.

So you're saying MTSU should beat ULL, since they meet in the second round? CBS sportsline was saying Lafayette plays great on-the-ball defense and predicted them to take the SBC...weird I don't know.

I'll go with Denver. Good guards and that big horse in the middle.

I don't think ULL can play any D, BUT I've only seen them once this year. UALR...that's my pick.

Cajuns held MT to 44 points. Cajuns held Rice and Southern Illinois to 61 points. Cajuns held USA to 45 points. Cajuns held Little Rock to 64 points.
Here's some more:
Cajuns are ranked 5th in scoring defense in the Belt, giving up an average of 68.4 ppg. Cajuns only trail MT, USA, DU, and UALR.
Cajuns can play some D!

I believe Mike Dean returned from injury that game....his turf toe....MT was miserable from the floor....and Dean went 1-10 from the field.
