"WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NAMES EMILY STEINMETZ DIRECTOR OF BASKETBALL OPERATIONS: Former Eastern Michigan women's basketball standout returns to her alma mater to join coach Suzy Merchant's staff. Steinmetz earned four varsity letters for the EMU women’s basketball team from 1995-98 and started 88 games during her four-year career."

"EMU COACHES' SHOWS MOVE TO WAAM RADIO: EMU's coaches radio shows for the 2004-05 football and men's and women's basketball seasons will have a new spot on the radio dial starting in August. The EMU Department of Athletics and WAAM Radio (1600 AM) have agreed to a partnership for the upcoming year" From EMUs website.

Both of these changes will enhances EMUs image. I know Emily from her days at EMU and she was a outstanding player that gave it everything she had no matter how the game was going. It is good to have her back, this will only build on the strong coaching team Suzy already has in place.

The change of radio stations will help I believe in that WAAM has a greater area. It is also closer to the Ypsilanti area.

05-lurk Superfan, great to hear such positive news for the Egals bball team. Who was the previous director of basketball operations? I don't recall the person in charge. 05-hide

One thing's for sure....EMU women's basketball program is going towards the right direction. Just across the Huron River Valley, UM is having major issues now with their women's basketball program. 3 of its starters already left the team and they will only return 2 starters for the 2004-05 team. UM was in shambles between March - June.

Now for the interesting part...I have heard that the Wolverines were able to sign the 2004 Miss Basketball Krista Clement from St. Ignace along with other candidates like Katie Dierdorf (Dan's daughter), Janelle Cooper, and Ta'shia Walker. Those four candidates automatically make Michigan a contender. I am now curious and eager to attend the matchup in Crisler Arena this Fall between EMU and UM. :grom:
